I use Gnotella, which is a file sharing utility - it allows you to search other peoples PC's for shared files and then download them - a bit like napster, I suppose. There are other similar programs, such as iMesh and Bearshare.

BUT - as far as I'm concerned - if the music is available commercially then I will buy the original and give the artist their due rewards - I bought the Vangelis album several years ago and I bought the American Orchestra version this month (after I had downloaded and listened to a couple of tracks from Gnotella).

I hope Warner release a more 'complete' collection of the movie soundtrack (to coincide with 20th Anniversary?) but I don't think this is on the cards...

I have so far found twelve 're-mixes' of the Blade Runner main theme:

I've got two of the tracks for this album and I like them a lot:

CD Single: Andora - Blade Runner
[563 223-2]

Track Listing:

Blade Runner - Kai Tracid Short Mix (3.50)
Blade Runner - Tandu Short Mix (3.42)
Blade Runner - Original Short Mix (3.10)
Blade Runner - Kai Tracid Remix (7.37)
Blade Runner - Tandu Remix (8.59)
Blade Runner - Original Mix (6.48)
Blade Runner - Silent Breed Remix (7.37)
Blade Runner - Steve Baltes Remix (4.48)

Released 1999 on What's Up?! / Polydor Zeitgeist GmbH (Germany). Written by Vangelis Papathanassiou. Produced by M. Behrens, T. Hermann and S. Walter.

I'm gonna buy this if I can find a place that sell's it!

The others that I have are by Tyrell Brothers, Orbital, Total Eclipse, Future Grip and Cosmic Baby (don't know if these refer to the artist or the 'mix').

There all in the style of ambient/trance.

Anyone else know about these?

_________________

The difference between the impossible and the possible is equal to the difference between today and tomorrow.

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-10-31 20:19 ]

We each live in our own realities - who's maintaining yours?
The only thing that you can be 100% sure of, is that you can't be 100% sure of anything.

Wow - just typed 'Blade Runner' into www.cddb.com and got 228 hits - looks like there's a lot more Blade Runner music than I thought...

_________________

The difference between the impossible and the possible is equal to the difference between today and tomorrow.

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-10-31 20:24 ]

Hey I'm new here too
I have vangelis' cd on constant repeat in my car, so I must have heard it ... hundreds of times. The atmosphere of this cd is very relaxing when driving long distances at night.
my favourite song would be "Rachaels song" I guess. they only one I DON'T like is "On more kiss dear" which I feel destroys the atmosphere on the cd... but I can always skip that one
Sorry Lobo... I must say I enjoy "One More Kiss,Dear" too. But, I really like the version in the game better...when Ray is at the bar in Animoid Row. Love this woman's voice. I used to go into my KIA and turn down all the sound except for the music and crank it up ("One more time,love...For the old times")ahhh how I can get so nostalgic over a video game. Incidently,DeckardBR26354...another tune of the same ilk intros the `97 PC game FALLOUT:a post-nuclear role-playing game. Don't know the title tho.
Oh, and to adress Centauro > I think this CD IS the original soundtrack with some extra songs added that weren't on it before (correct me if I'm wrong people). It's possible our booklets are different Centauro,as I know you reside outside the U.S.

Quote:

"Most of the music contained in this album originates from recordings I made in London in 1982,whilst working on the score for the film Blade Runner. Some of the pieces contained will be known to you from the Original Soundtrack of the film, whilst others are appearing here for the first time." I purchased my CD at Best Buy. They had a copy of the New American Orchestra version as well.

[ This Message was edited by: Gene Ettix on 2001-11-30 14:32 ]
