"...about my mother..."

Is the difference in the Leon's dialogue to Holden between the start of the film ("My mother... let me tell you about my mother") and later on when Deckard is in the car ("I'll tell you about my mother!") actually an error? I've seen it brought up a few times in some people's lists of things that should be fixed in the Final Cut. I've always thought of it as a way to play with the audiences memory (since memory is pretty important in the film). I also found this idea while doing a google search on the subject (taken from Off-World: City-speak, by poster Paul):

Re: 'Let me tell you about my mother.' This isn't a tape recording, nor is it a mistake, I think. It's Deckard recalling the conversation between Leon and Holden in his head. The reason why the wording is different is because it's the directors way of indicating that Deckard only vaguely recalls the dialogue, as you do. You'll notice that the conversation between Leon and Holden is sped up also. Again, when you recall a conversation in your head, you don't usually include the pauses from the original. Quite a clever concept, I think.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this was. Maybe it is mentioned in Future Noir (waiting for the expanded edition to come out to pick it up :D )

I've always considered it intentional.

now that i think of it... it's quite true! anyway, i agree with Deleted, and i remember it was one of the first weird details i ever noticed in my first BR viewing. it made me mumble quite a bit, but at the time i thought the italian translation was the culprit.
