one of my very favorite comics...very Heavy Metal...a little Blade Runner...and very violent. It has a similar cross between 40s noir and science fiction as BR. Amazing books

I have the soft cover compelation and a comic book store in town has the origional comics for sale reasonably priced. I may have to add them to my collection, but other things take precedance.

Geoff Darrow went on to do the production design for the Matrix movies and created Big Boy and Rusty the Boy Robot. Frank Miller we all know about I hope.

It is a very stylish book. I origionally bought it because it reminded me of Blade Runner. The artwork is amazing. I know many here will enjoy it.

From Wikipedia

"Hard Boiled is a comic book written by Frank Miller and drawn by Geof Darrow. The book is Miller's very loose interpretation of Philip K. Dick's The Electric Ant, but tinged with Miller's brand of satire and violence. "

Interesting. I never heard of it 'til now. Now I'll have to look further into this. Thanks for the intro to this! :)

Cheers!

Joao is that a scan? If so does that mean you have the entire scan sitting on your harddrive? PM me if youd like to share and we can set something up.

Hard Boiled is indeed a great graphic novel.

Geoff Darrow's insane eye for detail is what makes it for me, some of the two-page spreads are breathtaking, with so many little details and mini-stories told in a single frame.

My local bookshop usually has a few copies in the "Graphic Novels" section (usually conveniently located near the Sci-Fi section), and I'm in the UK where comic-specialist stores are a rarity.

I really dig hard boiled. It's one of my favorite comics. It's such an abstract, oddball kind of story, I always thought Terry Gilliam should adapt it to film.

It's been stolen from by numerous movies too, visually and from it's story. Darrow's work is just crazy. He's certainly one of a kind.

I don't think I'd call it heavily BR based though.
Name is Noeland, not Eli. But I played Eli once in a movie . . .

Hard Boiled arrived in the mail today. I scored this copy for $20 on Ebay. The artwork reminds me of the Snatcher, the classic Konami cyberpunk game. It also has a very Matrix look. This is because the Geoff Darrow drew the concept-art for the movies. It?s also very similar to Akira in that each pain has so much detail that you could stare them for hours and still see new things. The storyline is very violent, but not really like Blade Runner. Awesome graphic novel that any cyberpunk fan should add to there collection!
