New Blade Runner Book due out October 2005

Hi All
Just to let you know that there is a new book about to be published called The Blade Runner Experience. It was due out Sept but it has been slightly delayed to end of Oct. It will be available in hard and soft covers
The promo includes the following:

The Blade Runner Experience: The Legacy of a Science Fiction Classic examines the film in a broad context, examining its relationship
to the original novel, the PC game, the series of sequels, and the many films influenced by its style and themes. It investigates Blade Runner online fandom and asks how the film?s future city com-pares to the present-day Los Angeles; and it revisits the film to pose surprising new questions about its characters and their world.

I got an advanced copy of the manuscript (the author / editor Will Brooker interviewed me and another person who had written about LA Blade Runner locations for a snippet in his article).

The book's a good read. It's a series of articles exploring a wide variety of BR items from fandom to the video game. Since it's made up of short essays, it's a good one to pick up whenever you feel like a little BR fix. (Or when you need something interesting to read when you're "retiring", if you know what I mean).

Does this book have anything to do with that guy that came to the forums last year (or the one before?) saying that he was helping to make a new book, then e-mailed us a .DOC poll format with several questions about what we think and feel about Blade Runner/DADOES/PKD's novels, and then was never seen around here again?

I'm talking about this:

Here in the US, Amazon.com says it will be available on December 15. The book is $75!!! What's up with that!

This better some book for that price...

So, we're gonna be famous?

It'd have been nice if he took some minutes to come here and let us know... after all, he had the time when he needed the input. That aside, I hope it is a good reading.

I have just had an email from the publisher and the book is now available, at least in the UK.
Hope to get my copy this week.

Got the book delivered from Amason today and although i have not had a chance to read it yet i just thought i would let you know that credits were to Ben Mund, Mark Kermode and Don Solosan. Book looks well put together.
In 2003 Blade Runner became a verb.Twenty years after the films release there was no need to italicise the title. Blade Runner refers not so much to a film as to an aeshetic, a stylng, a look.

Looks like a "must have" along side Future Noir. After I've read it I'll know.

Anyone else get the "...Experience" ?
