Yeah, I've been hearing about this device for the past several days. Interesting stuff, and one must wonder if any of the inventors are BR fans. It will be interesting to see how reliable it truly is, as there are so many variables that can influence a machine like this.

If it is no more reliable than an existing polygraph, then it is not particularly wonderful. And just like the polygraph, I am sure that you could mess up any test so as it becomes useless. Even if you don't, a quarter of lie-detector tests are inconclusive.

For a real V-K, you need all the rest of it - a blush response is simply not enough!
Another factor that might screw up the test is something I remeber reading in DaDoES. It mintioned of an incident when people on certain medication would have a slower blush reponse time on the VK machine and therefore they were retired by mistake. The same could influence this test. Not to mention, some people just get plain nervous when tacking ANY test and this would certainly throw things out of wack!

In a VK test, a replicant wouldn't be lying in the answers, unless you ask he/she/it (you pick) are you a replicant? or something like that. I'm talking about this: A human can state something false about his/her past, and then lie. But about their memories or feelings, a replicant would not be lying despite the possible knowledge of the fact they are false memories or feelings toward these memories, etc. Even if the rep knows they are fake, the brain can't recognize them as anything but truth, because that implanted info is the only psychological background that being has.
