I totally agree. 15 years is a long time. And who knows if anyone will be able to get to L.A. by then. Any suggestions for a place and time to do it? I think Britain would be great: not only does it have the right climatical conditions, i could also afford the ticket.
In case a convention would come to happen, no one would ever mistake me for Pris though. Instead, I'd probably be asked for Bottles of Tsing Tao a lot.
I wonder how many people would dress up as sheep ... I guess there is a geeky potential after all.

How about having a gathering tied to the release of the Blade Runner Chronicles Fan Film? Noeland (Director) and I briefly discussed over email his plans to use a downtown Tampa theatre, that had been used for some of the filming, as a good location to premier the new production. Perhaps, if enough folks showed an interest in participating, we could plan some other events to coincide. It would be a great opportunity for the fans to meet and share their passion for their favorite subject.

Well, I've said it before, I'm still doing the LA 2019 trip - gonna find a sushi bar and order "four - two, two, four" of whatever Deck had. :D

I think this forum and the chat area are the closest thing to meeting most of us are gonna get - it'd be nice to meet people in person but that can also be a double-edged sword.

On a side-note, Gerry K (site founder) is visiting the UK next year and in all likelyhood we'll arrange to meet up (for the first time) somewhere.

I'm pretty sure Deckard had two shrimp like creatures and a bowl of rice. And noodles.

I guess, I simply like to imagine what it would be like. I never met anyone (in person) who's as much into BR as I am. :(
It's time someone comes up with a cheap, fast and possibly clean technology to get people together - except from the technology we're using now of course.
No one's come up with a new transport system in almost a century!!!
Any engineers around?

On that note, I was very sad to see all the Concord Jets retired. To me it was like taking a step backwards from a technological standpoint.

It would be something different if at least there were a better, faster commercial jet on the horizon, but there aren?t any. Everything is geared more towards the military. The Concord was such a giant leap forward in commercial aviation. It seams we?re going to be stuck with conventional commercial airplanes for a long time.

Concordes were sexy and exciting technical curiosity, but the reality didn't have much use for them, because they simply weren't economical. They ate fuel like thirsty cow on desert. They needed a longer runway to take off and only few airports had them. They have been useful only for loger distances to reach the supersonic speed. They weren't much profitting, tickets were too expensive.

They weren't too ecological either. The engines were polluting the air enough. Its sonic booms were very noisy, and the aircraft was permitted to go supersonic only over oceans and thinly populated areas.

So all these reasons pulled Concordes down. They were interesting experiment, but not very practical. They were Zeppelins of modern times.

we're all BR fans here so u know what i mean when i say this: ST is like a 6 inch deep kiddy pool and BR is more like an olympic sized 20 ft deep diving pool . Straight and simple. STers are more about the lines in the movie and less of its ideas (if there are tht many)

depthwise BR is so uncomparible to anything else making it hard for any other sci fi/tech nior movie to be on tht hight of a par. detail, character developement and props, dont forget tht either. this, all this comprises the great movie tht we love so much.

now, i know i havent been very specific but i think star wars fans and star trek fans fall into a fantsy fan category. not tht im putting anyone down...

however they might say the same about us.
That hurt! That was irrational of you. Not to mention ... unsportsmanlike.Heh heh...ha ha ha! Where are you going?"

i have friends tht sigh with slight misunderstanding and weeriness when i compare something to Blade runner or bring it up. when i visit them we're all going to watch it to see whether or not they really think im obsessed with this movie for a good reason (even thought i know i have one)

You might want to read my Blade Runner vs Star Wars topic. Then again, you might not.

Is there a collective term for Blade Runner fans? How about Reps? Or, to retro it up a bit, Andys?
I've done questionable things.

I remember a discussion we had years ago about what we should be called. I think we're happy not having any title. The best i could think of was "Electric Sheep". It's already the name of a Band and a Company.
Oh and, definately not Andys! RS wouldn't appreciate that. [-X
