Thank You. I am too, but feel bad all the same. I feel like our city was saved at the expense of Port Charlotte, and Punta Gorda and the other areas which were destroyed. At this point I can't reach my step dad, and his daughter. Everything is crazy down there right now, and I know they are OK, just out of reach. I'll be heading down that way to see them over the weekend.

yeah Eli, I'm using Lightwave and Premeire. I hope and pray that things go beter for you in the upcoming months. BTW: I have been approached by a CG company to do some professional freelance work. The co-companies are ComplXMinds and IMA. They saw my work on my latest personal project and offered me a "professional" CG job.

Here's what I've been working on since i was on vacation. (about 70 hours of work so far)

Hey, that's for Serenity, or the TV show that was called Firefly. I never saw it, but the ship is very distinctive. Does this mean you're actually doing modelling for the new Joss Whedon flick? Or is it for a video game related to it? Either way . . .

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I'm very, very happy for you my friend :D

The show was called "firefly" and the ship was called "serenity". when I was on vacation a friend of mine loaned me the series on DVD. It was cancelled afte just 14 episodes because Fox put it up against Survivor and the World Series.... Something tells me they wanted it to fail....

Anyway, I watched the episodes and every one of them was extremly good! the character development was outstanding. If you ever role-played, it was like a Traveller camopaign with western overtones. Now Universal has picked up the rights to do motion picture with the same characters and storyline --the film is due out next spring! :D

I was just doing the Serenity for fun, and someone on the forums saw it and e-mailed me. :D

I signed a non-disclosure agreement -- so all I can say about the project is that I will be modeling building and spaceship meshes for a sci-fi kids program. This is going to be so cool!!!!!!!!!

I will still be able to do the fan film since their work is only part time and they want all Low-med polygon models.

OK everybody... Announcement:

What is going on with the production of the fanfilm?

Not a lot right now. Since Florida has been hit with 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks, and the director and cast live in Florida, final casting and filming has been postponed until everyone can safely work on the production. Later this week I hope to be able to post some more work in progress images-- so don't lose hope. :)

great job treybor, your hobby finally got you somewhere. i think you should probably apply at pixar or lucasfilm, somewhere where your CGI stuff is needed and appreciated.

you guys should do a "making of" documentary, i'd love too see some commentaries and behind the scenes stuff. if its too late in the production, you can always write a book for us fans ;-)

Actually we are producing several segments as special features on the DVD. As things progress we will post some glimpses into the making of the film online.
Thanks for staying interested everyone!

Hi everyone!

As we progress with the production we're also running a parallel production of behind the scenes and featurette's for the DVD.

Part of this will include cast and crew interview's.
Are there any questions that you'd like to make sure make it into the interviews?

I just wanted to say, that to anyone I promised a VHS tape to, well, my editing system took a big hit shortly after making those promises, and that got delayed. Then the hurricanes blew through town.

Since my big failed VHs idea, we have just decided to put that content online and save me the shipping charges and VHS costs. It'll all be on the DVD in the end as well.

Check Sean's media section for an early sneak into some behind the scenes teases.

for questions, i have:
1) where did you get the money for the budget on such a big movie
2) how did the actors/animators/crew get approached on this project?like how did you get recruited
3) is it a guerilla film? or did you make sure you got all the licenses to shoot on the locations in tampa?
4)did you have any trouble with cops or any candid people in the background?

more on the way as i think more about it,

We're funding it ourselves, all our own money. Myself, and friends. I have made 2 previous film with much less money and we have a cast and crew working pro-bono. We cannot sell the film in any way shape or form.

THX1138 wrote:2) how did the actors/animators/crew get approached on this project?like how did you get recruited

We've approached folks mostly online, including the postings for local actors on the florida acting webzine. Every state will have some kind of resource for local actors, and you will find many of them to be very good.

THX1138 wrote:3) is it a guerilla film? or did you make sure you got all the licenses to shoot on the locations in tampa?

Anything indoors, we have permission for, or we're renting, such as the locations for set builds. We are making the film in conjunction with the USF film and video association, and will be using many of the amazing buildings on campus for locations in the film. It was written this way. We will be shooting in downtown Tampa, and doing it in a legal way. So, it's a guerilla film in spirit, but we're filming everything on the up and up.

THX1138 wrote:4)did you have any trouble with cops or any candid people in the background?

Have had both in the past, but we have only gotten rolling on the shooting portion of this, and we haven't had any run-ins with cops, or people getting upset with us. Before we shoot anywhere, I call the police in that area, state, city, and county, and notify them of our activity. IO also have a good friend who is a sheriff, so he helps me out to make sure we're not a surprise for anyone.

The trick is, notify the cops, and the cops will not bother you as long as your. In one case, on another film, the actually helped us out with crowd control, and were very nice guys. In another, we were shooting a zombie film in the boondocks, and a sheriff lived nearby, and threatened to have the entire production arrested. Which ofcoarse, was impossible since we were not breaking any laws. He was just a complete jerk. :)
