Well, you don't really have to call him god, he's just a BR fan like the rest of us, although I have seen people bow-down before him uttering things like, "We're not worthy". I just refer to him as "Your Holyness". Besides, we all know who god really is, c'mon... Ridley! (or is it Elden Tyrell?) Oh well, never mind. Sir Ridley Scott requested to the Queen that Charles be Knighted, in which case, he would then need to be adressed as Sir Charles. (She denied this request though, since he might be confused with her favorite retired NBA player).
Anyway, I can assure you he's not joking. He's seen alot of lost BR footage and he's really a very serious guy. Not much of a sense of humor there. (He never laughs at my jokes... and I have very funny jokes). I never joke about Blade Runner... and neither does he. Just ask deleted or dmohrUSC... They don't either.

I met his Holyness while in "The Confidential Committee on Moral Abuses". (I left that job shortly after my meeting with him). When I asked him if he felt he had been exploited in any way, he said,"I think so". So I then asked him if he did, or was asked to do, anything lewd, unsavory, or otherwise repulsive to his person, and he replied "Sure!.. Well, on occasion." I was only joking with him but, as you can see, he always answers questions in all seriousness.

I was told to check his office for holes... which I found. Lots of 'em. Most were in the ceiling where the rain came in. It didn't concern me, but then he said something about getting inspiration from the "Ridley Rain". (Now THAT concerned me, but I just wrote it off as being one of his little eccentricities.) Then he asked me if I knew how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. I didn't answer him, of course. I realized I had just witnessed the one time he ever made a joke in my presence. I think.

I explained that I was actually looking for dirty holes. The kind someone drills in the wall to spy on somebody. And then I saw it. A perfectly drilled hole right behind his framed 8 x 10 glossy of the topless Zhora. He had found this one already and covered it, I thought. But after further investigation I concluded the hole was not for looking into his office, but OUT. That's why the pic of Zhora was there... To conceal it.
As it turned out, some months earlier the office next door was used as a dressing room by one, Fran Drescher!

So, as the story goes, he proceeded to kick my ass and throw me out of his office. Awesome! I told him that I didn't want to get him into any trouble, and I still don't. (Damn, I hope Miss Drescher doesn't read this) I'm fairly sure we're still friends, and I still worship the ground that the man walks on. That was one of the best days of my life.

So, what were we talking about? Oh yeah... From my experience here on these boards (and my one chance-meeting with him), his Holyness NEVER jokes about Blade Runner and you can believe I never will either.

That last post of mine must have you people thinking I've gone completely bonkers. Just wanted to join in the silliness. Strange mood that night... but at least a little creative, I hope. Sorry, Charlie

Hey, deleted. Bad joke. I made a bad joke too. No really, I'm sorry. I want a drink... Would you get me a drink?

goof

As with several key scenes in Bladerunner, I think it is obvious that certain similar editing decisions were made here to correct story flow. If you look at the sequence of pictures here, you will see that Pris slams and dies onto a wall...
Image

very different from the wall as seen in Roy's supposed discovery of Pris...
Image

which is actually a flipped version of the scene where Roy grabs Deckard's hand... (similar to the infamous Roy in phone booth with thumb)
Image

So I think it was originally intended for Roy to see and touch Pris, wipe blood on his face and weep, after he breaks Deckard's fingers and gets shot by the ear, the separated scenes seen here as very similar

editing goofs

And since we are on the subject of editing goofs, another thing that has bothered me ever since the original versions is this reaction shot when Deckard drops his gun while climbing wall shelves...
ImageImage

which is actually a clip from the same scene earlier when he fixes his broken finger...
ImageImage

But that's the magic of editing. You don't notice these on your first viewing even on the big screen :D

Especially on the big screen, which is meant to overwhelm you...

Nice find!

Have a better one,

another one

And yet another one, though minor, and it actually gets away with the trick. The view from Deckard's car through the tunnel (after Batty kills Tyrell) we see several futuristic cars passing at the left hand side but as we reach the end of the tunnel, it is pretty obvious that present-day firetrucks and possibly police cars with flashing lights are blocking the lanes for the location shoot. This scene of course works as we hear a lot of sirens and radio calls on the soundtrack. :D Would have been nice to see futuristic buildings in the distance though

Hmmm, that's interesting. I never ever thought about it this way.
For me it always has been attributable to the busy L.A. of the future with an extra dose of retro for this particular shot... ;)

I agree with that. Plus, modern day vehicles aren't surprising. Look at some of the ground spinners.

a couple of other things i just noticed (and please excuse if these are common knowledge) but, Pris is wet and her wig is matted when she meets JF. when they get off the elevator its POOF and dry, then inside its wet again. also, Deck is reading the paper before hitting the noodle bar. it has something about "farming the oceans in Antarctica" or something similar. same paper that lines the drawer in Leon's conapt when Deck goes for his precious photos. yet its used like shelf paper and very weathered ... but from the same day. are these goofs old news?

The newspaper is old news. Not sure how common. But, a great observation never-the-less.

New goof or old goof?

To Photek:

From: joseph1949

Kipple is correct when he says that the "newspaper" goof is old news. The wet/dry wig goof is also old news. You must have good powers of observation and a high def TV screen to see the newspaper titles. One would have to assume you also used the pause button to see the titles.

Very good grasshopper!!

Before I sent my observation about the material on Roy's hand I went online and did a search concerning if anyone had noticed the material. I did not find any mention about the material so I entered by find on the forum.

I suggest that you do a search for goofs also. Enter the key words "Blade Runner" and "goofs". There will be a number of sites that will have Blade Runner goofs.

Here is a goof for you to find:

Decker has just killed Zhora. He is walking towards her body through all the plate glass and whatnot. There is a goof here. It is a subtle one!!!!
I will give you a hint: think-bang, bang!!!!

I have not seen this goof on any site.

Can you find the goof, grasshopper? Anyone else for a try?

Thank you.

joseph1949,

ahhh .... you are correct sir! to go off on a tangent ... i find these days that i less "watch" BR now and more "study" it. no one will watch it with me any longer as i quote it line for line so when i do pop it in, i look for at least one new thing each time, and am never disappointed! ok, when i saw the FC in the theater, i allowed myself to just sponge it up, but i found myself looking for any and all new bits.

looking at the newspaper before Deck heads over to the noodle bar, i noticed the same color scheme between that one and the one lining the drawer in Leon's conapt. went home and popped in the Blu-Ray FC and there it was. yes, i paused a lot and sat smack in front of the flat panel (got a nice tan).

on to the challenge. having almost worked my way through season three of Kung Fu (yeah - i got the entire series - GEEK!) i couldn't help but smile at your challenge. looking at said scene several times, i can't seem to see anything blatant but did notice (thanks to your hint) that Deck is holding his Blaster just before pulling out his badge and a second later his hand is unoccupied. is this what you speak of?

not sure but on a side note and another possible goof, i was alway bothered by the trim between the shattering glass panes. it looks like metal framing that one would ostensibly use to join large glass panes. however, when Zhora plows through, it is easy to see that it is metallic tape. i always thought this was quite a visible oversight - especially given the slo-mo. anyway, my two cents.

if i missed it, then the pebble remains in your hand Master Po!
