Modern Blade Runner cast

I and most others will agree that Blade Runner should never be remade or sequeled, etc. But if they were remaking it, or better yet, let's say they're making it for the first time in 2003. What actors and actresses should be cast in the various roles?

Demi Moore as Zhora?
Ashton Kutcher as Deckard?
Cameron Diaz as Pris?

These aren't my choices, I'm just curious what everyone else thinks.

"Ashton Kutcher as Deckard? "

Sweet Jesus, i would assassinate him before i allowed that to happen. He is a rather terrible actor IMHO.

Honestly, and like you said i think well enough should be left alone, but if a sequel/remake/spinoff whatever was made i think Guy Pearce or Johnny Depp would make great blade runners.

wilkins i must concur ashton would not do as a blade runner like i mentioned before on if they made a sequle that half the cast of the 13th floor would be acceptable but its not really the actors that make a movie its the feel of it for "blade runner 2" to be good it has to feel like blade runner
you made me bust out the future noir

"there are certian times when the background can be as important as the actor." ridley scott

truly a movies feel comes from both the actors performance and how it looks visually. you can manipulate the viewers emotions or how they feel by making the surrounding accentuate a particular feel for instance blade runner felt dark, dirty, wet, depressing because thats what looked like it was dark, dirty, wet, and depressing so more than the actors protrayls of desprate,& depressed charecters it was the look that hit the feeling home

but its somewhat tricky to make the background work like that it has to get enough of your attention to make you notice it but not enough to either overwhelm you or make you focus more on the background rather than the actors they have to work in unison blade runner did that extremely well

unfortunatly i doubt we'll see anything like that ever again all i think that we're gonna see in sci-fi is minority report even the new movie underworld i think its called looks a bit too polished but we can hope

I think Britney Spears would be great as Zhora. With her instinctive acting ability she would give a fabulous performance as an escaped android fighting for her life. :?:

OK, I'm lying. I just want to see her breasts! :D

Ack, no brendan fraiser or Luke Wilson please.

My list

Deckard: Guy Pearce

Rachel: Rachael Leigh Cook

Roy: Johnny Depp. Hes got that off center cerebral style that would make for a great performance as roy. Just bleach his hair

Pris: Kristanna Loken (Cheap to pick the T-X i know, but i think she could do this role more convincingly than her other one)

Leon: Henry Rollins

Zora:Nicole Kidman

Tyrell: Ian McKellan is a good choice

Gaff: Benicio Del Toro

Bryant: Christopher Walken

Holden: I think Viggo Mortensen would be good in that role

I know who luke is, but i think he is too typecast to be effective in BR. He stars mostly in romantic comedies for teens.

i think that luke has it in him just because hes been typecast as a romantic teen movie actor doesn't mean futuristic sci-fi action isnt out of his range besideds he only be in there for about three min

sry if my other post seemed condesending

Ain't this an ODD topic?

I seem to remember previous discussions about how Blade Runner simply wouldn't work with any other actor's than those that were finally chosen.

I mean, would it have been the same movie if Dustin Hoffman had played Deckard? (For those who don't know, he WAS the first choice for the part - can't remember at what point he dropped out of the project, though.)

Where's my copy FN gone...

...here we go - it basically says that Hoffman dropped out due to money issues and this suited Scott and Fancher who were getting worried about the direction that Hoffman wanted to take the script.

Interestingly, Christopher Walken was also considered - personally, I think he would have made a better 'Roy' than 'Deckard'.

Here's a similar thread.
