A search on Amazon doesn't come up with anything about the Special Edition - have you got a specific link?

BTW, you'll have to register to use this forum from now on...

All BR DVDs available on Amazon are these...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/searc ... 93-9310507

Notice that they have BLADE RUNNER (1982) DVD currently "out of stock"...

BR796164, I think that link you supplied is dependant on your session 'cos I don't work for me.

Anyway, I imagine it probably lists the repackaged director's cut which they labeled 'special edition' to shift old stock. I suspect that many have bought this expecting to see the 'real' special edition that we're all waiting for - that's sharp practise as far as I'm concerned...

I know an acquaintance who works for a company that puts together trailers and various pre-release promotionals for Ridley and Tony Scott's production company, Scott Free. In talking with him, he has confirmed that the Special Edition definitely includes three cuts of the picture, as we already know. According to him, some of the legal delays involved tracking down and being able to use all of the original promotional material from 1982. Interviews, behind the scenes, and other interesting stuff. The good news is that the hold-ups seem to be over. We could see the finished product as early as November or December. Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

:D :P

We all must be patient ... afterall, BR was visually inspired by the
story "The Long Tomorrow", now you understand why. :)

Im not going to get my hopes up. No offense, but i hear this too often over the net. "friends in the industry" said this and that. It would be great if its true though.

Petition for BR:SE DVD release

Has anyone proposed an electronic petition to Warner Bros (or whoever is distributing the BR: SE DVD) to stop procrastinating? Or at least give a release date or status update? Clearly the demand is there. A large number of people are eagerly awaiting this long overdue DVD.

I think it might help to speed things up if the studio sees the demand by fans. Look at the release of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." Originally George Lucas was going to wait longer to release it. When enough demand was there he sped up the process.

You can't compare "general demand for Star Wars" with "general demand for Blade Runner".

You missed my point. Why are you focusing on a comparison? The point of my post was to see if there was any interest in a petition. Not to bicker about which films have more demand.[/quote]

I'm not sure that a petition would make any difference to the release date. Warner know there's a demand for the movie which is why they've withdrawn the existing version and are releasing a new one. IMO they would release it today if they could, but they can't until all the legal 'wrangling' has been settled.
