Well...I guess my topic title says it all...I just want to know because I would like to have the 1982 version and this looks like the only way I'll get it on DVD. BTW what is the third disc? Soundtrack?

As far as I know, the three disks will be the original, the DC, and a new cut of Blade Runner. There's probably more info. elsewhere on the site (or <!-- BBCode auto-link start --><a href="http://www.brmovie.com" target="_blank">www.brmovie.com</a><!-- BBCode auto-link end -->). <BR> <BR>As for when it's comeing out... your guess is as good as ours, it's gone way past the time for it to be a 20th anniversary edition.

I think the new cut was something made up by the fans about the comment on that interview with that guy. Most likely there will be only 2 cuts of the film and logically the 3rd disc is for the special features. Trust me the third disc will be special features, go check out the Black Hawk Down 3 disc set! The only way we will get more than 2 cuts is through branching seamless or not! <BR> <BR>_________________ <BR><!-- BBCode Start --><IMG SRC="http://www.newdoom.com/hosted/robodoom/rmac.jpg" BORDER="0"><!-- BBCode End --> <BR> <BR>"What are you prepared to do?"-John T Cable<BR><BR><font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: ROBOCOP on 2003-04-19 17:48 ]</font>

According to this URL Address "www.brmovie.com" <BR>They are still not positive whether the 3-set disc is going to be released, but keep your hopes up because Blade Runner is still hot.

Well since the DC DVD is no longer in print I am pretty sure a new disc should be coming out soon. I have always heard some time late this year as a release date so keep your fingers crossed. I also hope if they do the theatrical cut they use the european version with the violence, Just because it is the one I am most familiar with and to clean it up again would seem like the film was again edited for content( I would so miss Tyrells death scene <IMG SRC="/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">) ...even though I believe Ridly has said he didn't like the excessive violence in that cut. Hard to believe after Hannable though. Actually though this isn't official and I can't remember where I read it(maybe Dark worlds) I heard alot of unedited BR prints were found recently with missing footage that Ridly wanted and they delayed the disc to make sure it was cleaned up and put back in as ridey would have really wanted his DC to be...a kind of ultimate DC. (i.e. origional footage of his unicorn and more BR streetlife.) In the article was also a tease to the idea that the owners of the BR license would ease up their restrictions to allow "some" BR merchandise to be released along the same time frame as the disc on a limited basis( i.e. T-shirts and maybe some toys like the re-release of the ertl cars like they did with Dukes of hazzard) with a possibility of some spencer gifts exclusives(also hot topic)...if it isn't true at least I hope the rumor spreads enough that they will at least start to seriously consider it. My vote for re-issues would be the sketchbook and the illustraited screenplay not the ertl cars since I already have them(and paid too much). Either way though I would like everybody to be able to get their BR goodies without having to pay scalper prices. We'll See !

Well, as long as there is a 1982 version in the set I'll be happy.

I think the new cut is hopeful trash that some fans started, most dvd finatics like me know that the 3rd will be packed to the brim with special features. I don't see the point anyway of a 3rd cut, too many cuts of a film can be very BAD.

Future Noir and the Extended Directors Cut Edit

Hi All,

There IS DEFINTITELY a third edit of BR, and it has been in production for quite some time.

No doubt those of you who have read Future Noir will be aware of this, but at the time of the DC, two competing projects were underway. One headed by film archivist Michael Arick, with the consent of Ridley Scott, and another one supervised by the studio, which was in essence a cleaned up version of the Workprint.

Scott disproved strongly of the studio Workprint cleanup as it was without the unicorn scene, and didn't have the technical quality of a releasable film. As such, he wouldn't put his name to the film as a directors cut.

The other, Arick project was a full-scale reimagining and re-editing of the piece, with a new sound mix, a clean print, and the re-insertion of many missing scenes (including the 2 "Holden in the Hospital" scenes).

A squabble ensued as to who would release what, and time sort of rushed by in litigation land - no-one could decide which version to use. Eventually, Scott won out and was allowed to assemble his version of the Directors Cut.

However, a new problem appeared. A deadline was fast approaching, due to the locked September 92 release date, and the grand scale efforts of Arick became unfeasible - due to lawyers wasting time. The only solution was a hashed together version WITH Scott's unicorn, but without any other deleted scenes.

This released Directors Cut can be said to be compromised, then, and not the real deal.

It is fairly safe to say, however, judging by whats been said already in the media, that Arick has been working on the complete version of BR for the DVD, with scenes from the trim bin, aswell as the workprint scenes - and we shall see this as the fabled 3rd version of Blade Runner.

I think that's a correct synopsis of events. You can get a better reference from Paul Sammon's "Future Noir", Chapters 16 + 17, Pages 330 to 371

Hope this sets things straight,

Kefrif
