If i had to choose between a sequel and a prequle id go for the prequle because you could go with younger actors like William Balwin (Virus), Craig Bierko (The 13th Floor)(good movie)or Russle Crowe (L.A. Confidential) anyway as for story wise i think that the events leading up to and causing his retirement from the department would make an intresting story also Gaff calls Deckard in the revised script the <!-- BBCode Start --><I>Boogey Man</I><!-- BBCode End --> how did he get this nick name hmmm interesting also his unfortunate divorce it'd be interesting to see how and why that happened but i'd see this movie under one circumstance it'd have top look alot like the first Dark,Rainy,Crowded, Opressive and done in Scott stlye heavy layering if you dont make it look like Blade Runner it wont be Blade Runner. thats my idea

I am not saying that I definitely want any preq or seq, but this is just one of my little ideas... what about a preq, not taking place in LA and Deck as the main character, instead it would be situated in an off-world colony and the plot would describe the hellish "life" of the replicants who decide to escape on Earth.<BR>I think it would help us to better understand their motives for killing humans and desire for more life. <BR><BR>Also, it would show those unbelievable things which Batty has seen.

We don't need to understand their motives. We need to learn to enjoy the movie. We don't need to see Russell Crowe or anybody else skipping through the jagged, lifeless grey landscapes of current-generation CG. BR is a masterpiece, or why are we here in this forum at all?<BR><BR>Luckily, it's unlikely such a thing will ever happen...<BR><BR>peace,<BR>emspace.

honestly I would've liked to see an offworld colony. It would be cool if they had a prequel and start it during Roy Batty's Incept Date (what was it 2016? think so.). You could see his "life" then. A good ending would be after he and others hijack the shuttle off-world and flee to Earth.<BR><BR><BR> One question of irony (not really, just kinda humorous) If you read DADOES you'll hear Rick mention that everyone wants to emigrate and get off of Earth, but when the replicants flee the off-world colonies they wnat to get to Earth. It's like leaving Heaven for Hell in a way. (Granted it may be opposite for the replicants..)

IF there were going to be a prequel or sequel, I would like to see a prequel detailing the incidents/actions that led up to Deckard's quitting the Blade Runner Unit. Now, being that this is a dream scenario on my part, the movie must be directed by Ridley, must star Harrison, and I would like to see Miranda Otto as Iran before she leaves Deckard. Just my opinion.

I have a feeling that only the original crew could make a sequel/prequel to Blade Runner.
I can't help thinking that if a sequel/prequel was made that it wouldn't capture the same mood and atmosphere of the original.
I suppose one obvious parallel are the movies Alien and Aliens - cleverly they explained the difference between the 'dated' looked of Alien and the 'newer' look of Aliens through the plot device of Ripley's long stasis sleep (50 or 70 years?).
Of course, we have had the 'traditional' model making versus CGI debate before...
I'd rather see another PKD story made into a movie rather than more Blade Runner.

Hello all...just adding my opinion here. I read PKD books/stories. And I can't help sometimes but think of the characters brought to life on the screen from either BR or Minority Report, or Screamers and Imposter. An example, I just finished the book "The World Jones Made" (http://www.philipkdick.com/jones.htm) and Deckard came to mind in the character Security agent Cussick. The job position could be a prerequisite of sorts...or precursor (forerunner, lol) to the Blade Runner. It's a good read. Couldn't put the book down! Anyways...a story line of that nature...when replicants first posed a threat to humanity...before the Nexus 6.
Of course, seeing a new movie based on OTHER PKD books would certainly be a joy. Can't wait for PAYCHECK. I read that story as well..and if done right should be an excellent trip.
Cheers!
