Blade Runner - The Legion Of Decency Edit

I was nosing around over at Demonoid the other day and I stumbled across this, the de-nutted, de-clawed, wormed and de-caffeinated version of the Remastered Director's Cut..

http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1763152

$ The following edits were made:
$ 0:20:13 Removed part of scene, questions about lesbianism
$ 0:48:58 Removed part of scene, sexual reference to woman with snake
$ 0:51:40 Removed part of scene, nudity
$ 0:56:59 Removed profanity
$ 1:06:28 Removed part of scene, sexual reference
$ 1:17:07 Removed profanity
$ 1:19:15 Removed excessive violence
$ 1:26:10 Removed excessive violence

It's all a little strange and alien to me, but I suppose if it makes beautifully crafted subversive dystopian futurism accessible to to the malleable minds of the young christian right, then it's not a totally bad thing....is it?

In any case, I gotta collect them all!

I just watched the Electric Unicorn Extended Cut last night. Very nicely done, but I'm still hanging out for The White Dragon and Ultimate Workprint cuts.. Gotta hand it to those guys. They are truly dedicated and what I've seen so far is awesome.

I don't get why someone would make a version like that. It sounds suitable for showing on Fox or something.

Gotta love that they'll let about 150 people get killed on network TV but " OH NOES, NOT BREASTS!!!12q"

Seriously. Nudity vs. gratuitous violence. You'd think this would be elementary. :roll:

I want my goddamn Zhora boobs, eye-poking bloody violence, flocking swearing, and all the other incredibly nasty inappropriate bits this film has to gratuitously offer, gosh darnnit!

Clearly, I am a high-caliber fan.

But seriously, is this edit a joke or something?

EDIT: HAHA, it still changes fuck-ing to flocking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall any strong language besides the original line of, "I want more life, fucker."

Well, I looked at the guy's other torrents and there's a whole slew of sanitised versions so I'm guessing he's for real and some kind of weirdass christian. I know, it can be hard to tell satire from the real with some of these nuts. I had a hard time believing godhatesfags.com was for real for quite a while when i first saw it.

It's a bit like Zhora says to Deckard, "Are you for real? Come on, dry me!"

I'd really like to see him attempt a sanitised of Steve Anderson's Documentary, Fuck.. I love the irony that imdb's swear filter won't let you mention the name of the film on their forums.

There's a bit...it depends on what versions of what scenes you're seeing.

Anyway did it state that he's Christian? In any event, even if he is, he's more of a fanatic than anything else, and hopefully doesn't represent the saner folks.

I'm most familiar with the Director's Cut (my first time seeing Blade Runner, pretty close to what it's supposed to be) and Final Cut, but I don't recall too much profanity in all the other versions I've watched in my five-disc set, including the awful U.S. Theatrical Cut.

Both deleted hospital scene have some profanities, but they aren't in the film...and you mentioned the fucker bit.

Ok, so there's Bryant.

"He's a Goddamn one man slaughterhouse, that's what he is."

"Christ Deckard, you look almost as bad as that skinjob..." (Lord's name in vain)

"C'mon, don't be an asshole Deck..."

That's not even beyond PG-13, however.

Those trims are bizarre. Like an attempt to create a broadcast television cut... which are in themselves sort of lame. Why do it? Would you really show Blade Runner to someone who couldn't handle the original version anyway... like to a five-year-old? Does it really make the film more "decent"? Or does it just remove the carefully created and edited slightly harsher edges of the film? The bits and pieces that make it a bit grittier?

That said: I prefer Ridley Scott's change of "I want more life, fucker." IMHO it does work better as "I want more life, Father." They originally recorded the second way while making the film for anticipated future TV broadcasts. While "fucker" has more of a punk street aesthetic to it, "Father" has a more significant thematic resonance. Again, IMHO. Anyway, I like it better.

I'd like to see a Legion of Indecency edit now. Restore the entire love scene, restore Fucker, and shove just about as much extra whateverthefuck you can in there as possible.

In fact, just edit the movie to have nothing but the violent, nude, and swearing bits. That's it.

That would be funny... made up of all the deleted scenes. Include the Holden hospital scene just because he says, "You stuck it in her, didn't you? You fucked a washing machine and you turned it off."

That'll be the remake then...
