BR:FC may go wider 11/2?

Here's what Box Office Mojo had to say...

-------------------------
BOX OFFICE MOJO
THEATER COUNTS REPORT
PREPARED FOR:
-------------------------
OCTOBER 12
Title (Distributor) / Theater Count (Change) / Week #
NO CHANGE
Blade Runner: The Final Cut (Warner Bros.) / 2 / 2

I guess we can be thankful that they aren't cutting back on showings...

Yes, I really live in Los Angeles. Srsly. And yeah, life really does imitate art here. Especially now we've got those video billboards. No spinners yet. But I suppose that's next.

msgeek, do you think it would be worth my effort to contact my local theatre and speak to somebody about getting the BRFC?
Because sans winning the lottery, it is probably the only chance I have of seeing BR as it was ment to be seen.

The announcement by the Music Box Theatre in Chicago, IL suggests that BR:FC will be going wider on November 2nd. How wide remains to be seen. Anyone got any info about other theatres? I'll keep digging on my end.

I think everybody should be trying to contact their local theaters and chains to bug them into it. As long as theaters are willing to show it, I am sure they will let them.

I have been at that for my own benefit. An artsy fartsy theater 75 miles to the north of me is owned bya Blade Runner fan. I am sure he will pick it up just so he can see it himself. :D

Why aren't all these dates on the Final Cut website?

I usually hear about these things...but the last two cities given in this thread have not come across my desk. wtf

...Presenting exhibit # 4,327,958 that "official" websites are usually the last to know, or post, every pertinent item about the topics they purport to be reppin'.

Thank god for forums like these! Otherwise it would've been late November, and the official Warners BR website would have posted the notice of the Chicago screening on the last weekend at the theater, if they did at all...or I would've heard about it next year in some chat group - "dude, checking out the FC in Chicago on the big screen last November was so awesome"; "Wha!? WHA!?!?"

Here's news, courtesy The Digital Bits:

-----------------------------------

While we're talking about Warner, here's a bit of good news: The studio has just informed us that the limited theatrical release of Blade Runner: The Final Cut is expanding to select markets around the country, and some of the screenings are expected to be in 2K resolution digital projection where available. Here's a list of dates and locations (look for more updates on the film's official website):

10/26 - Seattle (Cinerama, Seattle - 35mm), Washington D.C. (Uptown, D.C. - 35mm), Portland (Cinema 21, Portland - 35mm), Salt Lake (Gateway Megaplex, SLC - Digital)

11/2 - Chicago (Music Box, Chicago - 35mm), Santa Barbara (Arlington, Santa Barbara - Digital), Baltimore (Landmark Harbor East, Baltimore - Digital)

11/9 - Boston (Coolidge Corner, Brookline - 35mm)

11/16 - Detroit (Main Art, Detroit - 35mm)

11/18 - Austin (Paramount, Austin - 35mm)

11/30 - San Francisco (Embarcadero, San Francisco - 35mm), Dallas (The Inwood, Dallas - 35mm), San Diego (Ken, San Diego - 35mm), Minneapolis (Uptown, Minneapolis - 35mm)

12/7 - Denver (The Landmark @ Greenwood Village - Digital), Philadelphia (The Ritz 5, Philadelphia - 35mm)

12/25 - Boston (The Brattle, Cambridge - 35mm)

1/2/08 - Austin (The Paramount, Austin - 35mm)

1/4/08 - Nashville (The Belcourt, Nashville - 35mm)

1/18/08 - Durham (Carolina, Durham - 35mm)

2/1/08 - Columbus (Drexel Gateway, Columbus - 35mm)

2/15/08 - San Francisco (Castro, San Francisco - 35mm)

2/29/08 - Sacramento (Crest, Sacramento - 35mm)

Yes, we know... Austin is listed twice. Not sure why - this is what Warner gave us. If you're a fan of Blade Runner, we definitely recommend seeing The Final Cut on the big screen before it arrives on disc on 12/18.

Can I get a w00t, guys???

I really think the fandom's demand influenced WB's decision to run BR:FC in more theatres. This expanded list of theatres is OUR VICTORY.

Now if only they'd do a showing at the Million Dollar Theatre in Downtown LA, the theatre that got screen time in BR, I will be in orbit riding cloud 9.
