Pointless, petty gripe!

Is anybody else slightly annoyed that the tagline for the Final Cut is 'the film that started it all'? I mean, as if Blade Runner's greatest claim to fame is that it gave rise to The Matrix, Minority Report and Highlander 2? Maybe a better tagline would have been 'the original, the best'.

Well, I told you this was a pointless, petty gripe. ;)

It's all a matter of interpretation. Yes...I agree with you. But, the way I look at it is...it's the movie that started all the PKD based/inspired films. :D

There could be better taglines, because it started quite a few things that us fans may ask "what in particular did it start?...Cyberpunk Cinema, Sci-Fi Noir, Dystopic Urban Sci-Fi, Giant Neon Billboards, Asian influenced American Science Fiction, Akira and other Cyber Anime, Techo Music (as claimed for BR End Title), wearing of trench coats in science fiction films, Artistic Science Fiction films, Syd Meads careeer in film (except for Star Trek the Motion Picture and Tron), Shoulder pads in womans dresses, Racoon eye make up, Science Fiction film with no clear 'good' or 'bad' guys, Ridley Scott's Hollywood career, Daryl Hannah's career, Strippers with snakes and S&M outfits, Ananchronistic Science fiction films, short spikey hair cuts on men, 1980's Art Deco, ...." and on and on. :D

I like your gripe. The tag immediately hit me kind of strange, too. Sounds so "HOLLYWOOD" for a film so anti-Hollywood.

Man has made his match... Now it's his problem

I like this classic tag. More relevant now, than ever.

Gee, I like it. I agree, I'm not entirely sure what "started it all" means, but hey, it's Blade Runner!

In the press releases they mention all the films now based on P.K. Dick stories, and that BR is the first..."the one that started it all". So that is what it started. The P.K.Dick movie adaptation craze, as Kipple stated above.

But of course, one can never be too thankful for Highlander 2!
