Blade zone has an article about it here going up for auction. I would prefer to see the Drew Struzan poster art or even something all together new. At least they know there is art out there they can use. BTW there are other versions of that famous poster that you might not be aware of. The DC poster is different in at least a less detailed manner...then even more simplified is the Criterion LD cover art.

How odd. This looks exactly like the link I posted a few days ago. My God, it's even the same link! HOW COOL!!!

Heh, I know. I don't really like linking images on forums. Some may considder it stealing other's bandwidth, since whenever someone loads the image here on the forum, it steals the bandwidth from the host of the image. I guess they call it "hotlinking."

There was one case where a news site (i think it was Cnet) hotlinked an image from a guys website, and he found out about it, and he swapped the image out for a naked french guy, and it had the said, "Hotlinking is stealing bandwidth, and it's wrong!" I don't want to link an image on the forum and then have the webhost swap out the image for a naked french guy, lol.

Anyway, way off-topic. Though, the forums have been pretty quiet so I thought I'd stir up some trouble, lol.

True, But I don't think we are soaking up much bandwidth from here. Everybody here would have be looking at the same post at once for them to even notice it ;) One time a long time ago if some ones bandwidth got exeeded they felt like they had succeeded in getting their message out. I remember when the "bert is evil" site needed 10 or more mirror sites. Those were the days when the Internet was about spreading information, not owning it.

Blade Zone has an interview wit John Alvin That explains that he basicly did the poster on his own in hope of a 20th anniversary release in 2002. On the other hand the Drew Struzan posters were commisioned...by whom and for what I wonder?

BTW there was a similar discussion on IMDB about the posters recently.

Just curious, has everyone pre-ordered the plain remastered version yet? I did weeks ago, and the waiting makes me nuts. Pre-order, people: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HC ... 58?ie=UTF8

Release date confusion/opinion on packaging

I?m a bit confused as to the actual release date for this dvd, its it the 9/5 (according to amazon) or 9/12 (according to the digital bits?)
If its 9/5 great?I can pick it up when I get my lost se.2 set : )

As far as updating the art work?I like the fact that they kept it the way it is by virtue of the fact that this was the art work/design used to promote and subsequently package this version of the film. And I mean this specific design not simply the painting but the black border the red logo and shots of the actors/names at the bottom ect?
You could also make the argument for keeping this design from the viewpoint that your customers fall into two groups
Group a) is either and BR fan or a home theatre enthusiast ?these people know that this is the new remastered version if only because its not in one of those god awfull snap cases but mostly because they are all over the net and simply know when the new dvd is going to drop
This group will buy the dvd anyway and if they don?t like the artwork use there high dollar printer to print there own sleeve?lol.
Group b) is jo-paycheck who may have seen the film a few times and wonders into the store on 9/5 (or 12 still havnt cleared that up lol ironicly enough) and picks up a copy and it is his good fortune that he is getting the best possible picture quality of this fine film.

Warmer pulled the old snap case versions so its not a case of people picking up the old one by mistake?don?t see why the art work is a prob.

Take a look a what http://www.thedigitalbits.com said:

"First up today, there's something I wanted to mention before I talk about other subjects: I've just gotten the chance to see Warner's newly remastered Blade Runner DVD... and let me tell you, if you love this film even half as much as we do, the new disc is an absolute MUST have. The new transfer makes the original DVD - which was one of the very first discs Warner ever released back in March of 1997 - look like dog chow by comparison. Contrast, color, detail... all are dramatically improved with the new anamorphic transfer. Like the first DVD, the newly remastered disc is the 1992 Director's Cut and it's movie-only. As a new multi-disc Blade Runner special edition DVD box set is already planned by Warner for release next year (to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary), this remastered DVD is only going to be available for four months. But it retails for just $19.98 (it's on sale at Amazon for just $13.99) and like I said... if you're really a fan and you've been living with the crappy original DVD release, that's a small price to pay for a much better transfer to hold you over until the box set next year. The DVD street date has been moved up by Warner to this coming Tuesday (9/5) from the original 9/12 street date, so when you're out buying your DVDs next week definitely keep it in mind."
