RapidShare & Bootlegs

Aye Folks. I believe this is getting out of hand. As posted in BladeZone's Off-World Forum Guidelines:

"No Warez, Illegal Software or Scans of Copyrighted Material.
This includes linking to, posting about, and suggesting ways of obtaining illegal software and/or other copyrighted materials such as scans of magazine articles. Posting such information may also result in your posting privileges being revoked. Furthermore, we will not tolerate postings that encourage people to violate copy protection by referring them to sites that have copy protection codes publicized (including No-CD Cracks) and/or illegal software. Any such post will be removed from our forums and your membership and posting privileges will be revoked as soon as we find the offensive post."

Please take heed.

Yup. It's not that we're being copyright nazis, but it's just best to cover our asses and protect the site owners so they dont get slapped with a lawsuit.

I was definately one of the main culprits!
All files are gone from the offending upload site also.
It won't happen again!

Regards and apologies -

I understand it's very hard for the fans to get all that precious music, but it happens we live in a world of zealously watched spiritual rights.

Whether it's good or bad, would be a matter of a separate discussion.

Yes. It would be one thing if they composed the music themselves and decided to make it free. It's another thing ti just "rip" what someone else did, and give it away and tell others they should do that same. That's why I like the Creative Commons licenses. Google Creative Commons to find out more, they have a nice video guide to tell you all about this new licensing system.

While a guest here at the Bladezone house I will respect the owner and operators with any request they make as far as rules of site use.
AJ, while I understand the removal of links here I dont see any problems with rapidshare as there are so many links there and they seem to be not really concerned about anything. Maybe they are in a country free from laws...I have no idea.
I have noticed they will remove a file if someone (maybe owner of a file) asks it to be removed. As long as this site doesnt link to RS everything should be cool.

I have a question. Say someone has a link. Are they allowed to to see our emails to pass along the info keeping Bladezone free of involvement? I figure PM's are not allowed to use for such. Or just PM and ask for email?
Either way I still see myself as a guest and have no problem with any rules old or new.
Thanks for maintaining the site to those that do.
Regards,
carson

Interesting point. PMs are one thing. Even if the post was of a "Got an MP3zed bootleg, send me email or instant message with link request, yeah I take my own risk" sort, would it be cathegorized as violation of the forums rules, or should it be treated merely as spam?

What do you say Kipple?

What you folks do outside BZ's Off-World Forums is your prerogative.

I recommend joining Bousley's Yahoo! Group Blade Runner Soundtrack. The list devoted to discussion of one of the greatest electronic score ever produced.
