Good news for XP users
All my life I've had Win 98 and have never had any problems running the game, but I have recently bought a laptop for when I go away to do studies and it came with XP home edition on it. I thought I would try to install Blade Runner on it to see if I experience any problems, I did a full install of the game without an error but when I tried to run the game nothing would happen just a quick blank screen then back to my desktop.
I'm not very experienced with XP but as far as I can see it's just a little more flash than 98 & 2000 and a few extra features built into it.
When I was looking through the Blade Runner directory folder I right clicked the BLADE.EXE Icon then clicked propities, I have never seen the compatibility tab before so I clicked it. It says in this window "If you have problems with this program and it worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, select the compatibility mode that matches that earlier version."
I ticked the box and selected Windows 98/ Windows ME, then I tried running the game again and this time it worked!
So for I have been able to play the game but like another member of BladeZone I cannot save the game.
#Edit#
Ok I fixed my save problem!!! I noticed when you first save the game (On 98) it creates a folder in the Blade Runner directory called "Save" and the game progress is saved here. When I had a look the folder wasn't there so I created it myself, I then re-loaded Blade Runner and tried saving and this time it worked smoothly. I think the game was just looking for the folder but couldn't find it, usually it creates it itself but... who knows?
So try changing the compatibility mode by right clicking BLADE.EXE then click the compatibility tab and change the drop down box to Windows 98/ Windows ME.
