RESEARCH ABOUT BR

I like the idea of a "pilgrimage" to Los Angeles in Nov. 2019, and wonder if any other groups or individuals are planning the same thing. Instead of waning, I think interest may surge as we come closer to approaching the actual date portrayed in one of sci-fi's most seminal landmark films.

What would be really neat is if the city officially acknowledged this and to pay tribute, played clips of the pill-popping geisha girl on a few Jumbotron screens. One can dream, anyway...

I agree, and such gathering has been mentioned many times before on this board. But it will be nice to plan some kind of event way in advance, otherwise we?ll all be standing there saying, ?Okay, we?re here. Now what??

I always envisioned some kind of reception in the Bradbury Building, and then a special showing of the BR right across the street in the ?Million Dollar Theater?. And of coarse, try to get people that were involved in the film to attend.

I say we bring this to Paul Samon?s (?last name spelling) attention. If anyone has the connections and dedication to make this happen, it him.

By 2019 they will launch a special satellite that will project Blade Runner directly on the sky above Los Angeles.

I know i have mentioned this a little while ago on but without sounding boring would a meeting in 2009 be possible, i only say this because 14 years seems so far away and so many things can happen in that time. Perhaps i am being selfish as i know how old i will be in 2019. Can i ask the question, does anybody feel the same?

i would make the trip in 2009 - no question.
BTW - i recently made the trip (Los Angeles, November 2005) and followed Ben Mund's original path (http://media.bladezone.com/contents/fan ... a_tour.php). i even posted a thread here asking for advice but got no response.
no matter - it was awesome. definitely a pilgrimage...standing outside the Ennis house and looking at those blocks...talking to one neighbor and hearing his anecdotes about Harrison stopping by duiring a break in shooting for gyoza! it was worth the trip and there wasnt even a reason. if you guys are up for 2009 - count me in.
my trip journal and photos are on WEKurtz's weblog site (http://brwl.blogspot.com/) if anyone is interested (knowledge of Spanish helps). by the way - the Bradbury building remains in PRISTINE condtion.

methinks this thread is getting a tad out of hand. notice the user hasnt responded? gag maybe? social observer trying to see if females do get the better responses than males? maybe im just paranoid, but only 2 posts is suspicious for such an off-topic discussion. i thought about locking it a while ago, but you guys were making use of it, so eh.

by the way, there's still a thread about a 2019 meeting if you want to resurrect it and continue there. it just makes for better organization, to keep things in the proper thread. in the future, when people go searching, they shoul donly have to look in a single thread rather than multiple threads all over the place.

now im sounding like a nazi, lol. im a little anal-retentive about organization though.

THX, I also felt the urge to lock this thread, but I don't think it's that necessary now. It isn't rude, people made efforts to post their opinions and feeling... But we can take a lesson for future cases.

Photek, cool trip! It's a good thing I also speak spanish, so I was able to read about your trip on that website.

BladeZone also inspired me to take a BR tour back in 2001. I had a great time, and actually posted a brief description of it. I was able to find the post if anyone wants to check it out:

I also took many pictures, but not with a digital camara. I also took my simi-professional camara and took some black & pictures. Those came out awesome, especially the inside of Union Station.

perhaps we can all create a retrospective BR shooting location photo archive from all of our trips and perspectives at some point?
