who manufactured Dekard the replicant?

Thought I'd start a new thread on this topic.
If Dekard is a replicant was he manufactured by the Tyrell Corporation? The movie seems to suggest that they are the only ones involved in this commerce. If he was does Tryell not recognize one of his own company's 'products' especially one with such a high profile function? :?:

We're going deeper into the hypothetical conspiration between Tyrell and LAPD.

I think that before replicant Deckard was manufactured, old Eldon had a little tete-a-tete with old Bryand and a bottle of tequilla. 8)

Tyrell never told Rachel she was a rep, he could just as easily have been acting with Deckard (pretending not to know him and explain the whole Nexus 6 thing to him). I don't see that as a problem.

yes I see your point, either that or mabye Tyrell really doesn't recognize one of his company's own creations. He is so high up that it's quite plausible that one little unit from the production line would pass by him completely unnoticed. Could it have been the LAPD themselves that conspired to 'program' Dekard's world and implanted the appropriate memories relevant to his task... they obviously did a perfect job on him. :?

If we're playing 'Deck-a-Rep' (and I do like playing this game) then Tyrell Corp. has to be his manufacturer - I can almost see Bryant barking down the phone at Tyrell - "This is YOUR goddam freaking 'product' running around loose in my sector, Tyrell! They've already put my best guy in IC and now it's my ass on the line here and it's gettin' hotter with every cadaver they scrape off the sidewalk! Now, you gimme somethin' to clear up this mess or I'll close you down faster than you can say 'skin-job'! "

 good one! I can imagine a scene like this vividly! It would have made a perfect 'lost deleted scene' clip. I can see why Harrison Ford is unhappy with the rep angle on the story coz it reduces his character to a puppet in a grand conspiracy...

X-Files-like conspiracies start to bore me. i think it's just a necessary 90's addition to the world of BR.

Read Jeter's Edge of Human and you'll loose all taste to put conspiracy theories into Blade Runner.

And perhaps I'm just tired by them from time to time, because I was interested in them so intensively... 8)

Hi,
I for one think Tyrell Corp. is very well aware that Deckard is a Rep. but do not tell him otherwise he would selfdistruct since his mission is to "retire" replicants.

hehe, you guys.. :D

"Now, you gimme somethin' to clear up this mess or I'll close you down faster than you can say 'skin-job'!"

Tyrell says: Yeah, i`ll give you an old retired modell that cant stand killing replicants, if he does he has to booze-up afterwards to handle the emotions and has NO advantages what-so-ever when compared to a skilled human with a strong mentality and young fysically fit body.

Bryant: Yes, give me one of thoose 2 dollar crap-cop replicants.

Where did you get 'old retired model' from? If Deckard is a Rep then he's probably a modified Nexus-6 (series 7?) just like Rachael.

What do you mean by 'NO advantages what-so-ever when compared to a skilled human'?

Deckard being a Rep has many advantages over him being a human. Being a Rep makes him expendible whereas Deckard being a human doesn't and with Holden already in IC it makes more sense to send a Rep. Also, if Deckard is a human then he took a great deal of physical punishment from each of the four Reps and survived where everyone else who encountered the Reps didn't survive.

At the end of the day, Deckard is probably human, but there is the possibility that he is a Replicant. Either way, he did 'get the job done' in the end.

I have to agree, I can see that totally happening..... But I still think Holden would have been a BR too and I think the only reason they tell Deck that Holden is still alive is to keep him from suspecting. All part of the web of lies.

Maybe it would sound more like this:
"This is YOUR goddam freaking 'product' running around loose in my sector, Tyrell! They've already Retired my best, or should I say your best Blade Runner and now it's my ass on the line here and it's gettin' hotter with every cadaver they scrape off the sidewalk! Now, you gimme a better Blade Runner to clear up this mess or I'll close you down faster than you can say 'skin-job'!"

Why would Bryant be angry? I always assumed Tyrell created Deckard for the purpose of giving him to the police so they could use him to retire replicants on Earth.

It also seems clear that Bryant answer to Tyrell. The fact that Bryant wants the replicants found to prevent Tyrell from being embarrassed shows the amount of corruption in the police force. Sounds like the Tyrell Cooperation pays off the police.

I think he meant that Bryant was mad about Leon shooting Holden, not about Deckard. The implication being Deckard was created that day for the job.
