Conspiracy about Deckard

One thing I've wondered about the "what if Deckard is a replicant" issue:

At least some of the people in his orbit would have to know about his being a replicant. Bryant seems to know his subordinate rather well, but he seems too sloppy and careless to not let something slip. What about other Blade Runners? Shouldn't some of them at least be suspicious? After all, they are trained to detect replicants (and I figure that they, like most cops, rely as much on the so-called "hunch" or "intuition" as they do on hard evidence.).

One might even argue that Tyrell doesn't even betray any knowledge of Deckard's being a replicant (and Tyrell should have known as well as anybody else). However, Tyrell wasn't a slipshod, alcoholic, burned-out police superintendent.

In short, if Deckard were a replicant, at least a few people should know about it. It might be that most of them are able to keep their lips sealed, but there's no way that anyone could convince me that Bryant wouldn't slip up.
I re-read DADOES recently - even PKD had Deckard contemplating the possibility of replicants hunting replicants - or machines hunting machines as is the case with the book. In fact the particular passage in the book that I'm refering to (where Deckard finds Zhora/Luba in the art gallery) is written as though it wasn't uncommon for this to happen.
It would be a more effective method of retiring reps than using humans because a machine (replicant) will not develop any empathy for it's 'prey' and will therefore be more likely to complete the task unhindered by human emotions that would get in the way of the job.

I'm not going to enter into the Deck-a-Rep part, but I am going to comment on some of the slanderous comments aimed at Bryant!
It seems to me he may have a slightly sloppy appearance, but he probably knows his job. Quite possibly one of the first Blade Runners, now behind a desk supervising the others. After his best BR gets stuffed, he knows what he has to do - call in Deckard. And when Deckard objects, Bryant makes his threat quietly, but with absolute confidence. Deckard is the best BR, but Bryant is unquestionably in charge.

When Bryant offers Deckard a drink, he opens a new bottle and isn't seen to drink himself, thus leading some to believe he doesn't at all, hence calling him an alcoholic is very questionable.

As for being sloppy, careless or slipshod - I see absolutely no evidence whatsoever to suggest any of those things. And burned-out? I can't agree with that either - if he appears that way, have you considered that it might be an act and if you look closer, he is actually pretty smart and knows exactly what the situation is and how to control his people?

Bryant may not be a drunkard, but he is sweaty and quite sleezy. Note his comment, "Talk about beauty and the beast... she's both." Feel that sexual tension built up in that homley, rotund man? As for the Deckard thing, would this mean Bryants idea of "little people" = a replicant on the lamb?, one up for retirement?

Actually I quite agree that Bryant is likely an alcoholic, and what I said was confusing "alcoholic" and "drinker" - i.e. he is an alcoholic, but an ex-drinker. The inference I took from the first post being that he still drank a lot.

The point is that he isn't drinking. Showing that he has some degree of intelligence and willpower. Why might he have been an alcoholic? Same reason as Deckard? The nasty business he's in? And sure he is "racist" towards reps and sexist too. All of that doesn't mean he is sloppy or careless or bad at his job though.

Replicants are loose. He makes sure they are dealt with.

signs that deckard is a replicant: the unicorn in his dream and the unicorn oragami left by edward james olmos at the end.

i think ridley scott also thought it was an excellent idea.

the great part is that its hinted at, but never clearly resolved, whihc leaves room for ambiguity, which is part of what makes the movie such a doozy.
Firstly, Hi everybody (Dr. Nick style) long time no write. I had a bit of a case of "Life(tm)" but, I'm back

Secondly, I seem to recall, possibly in the voiceovers or perhaps I read it, but that Bryant himself had a liver defect, making him unable to drink himself, hence the comment in the movie "Drink one for me, Pal"

Dunno, could be wrong, but I distinctly remember this.
