Loved the movie first time I saw, even though I was just a kid. The first movie I bought after moving into my first place. Realized my folly and bought the director's cut DVD, even though I didn't even own a DVD player at the time. Brought the movie with me in my suitcase from the states to Taiwan, watch it when I want to be in another world. Tonight, first time on a BR website. A few viewings ago I noticed the line, began to think about the inconsistencies, like so many aspects of the movie, perhaps not meant to be answered . . . but then again maybe not entirely.

This question may have been asked a 1000 times, but its my first if anyone feels up for it. Who's the 6th skinjob?

Don't worry! I've come to think that making that question is like the baptism to the BR fandom. Many people have come to the forums with it.

For short: The other reps were Mary and Hodge. They were in the script, but were cut for budget reasons. Supposedly, Hodge was the one who got fried in Tyrrel. Mary was totally cut off, but they mistakenly kept the Bryant lines wronf, and voil?, the missing rep.

Now, there are some theories about Deckard being the 6th caught-and-reprogrammed-as-a-famous-retired-bladerunner-named-Deckard missing rep. And the theory splits into many, depending on the amount of detail that you want to consider. Me, I say he's human.

BTW, after you've read some more, please give your vote in "the forums veredict".

WELCOME!!!

Welcome Skywalker!

Our good friend, Centauro, covered all the info very well. If you get the time, try reading some of the older topics from a several months back. Tons of interesting stuff have been covered on this forum. And yes...please vote on the "Deckard: Human or Rep?" thread! That also goes for all other newbies that haven't done so yet.

Yeah but i think someone had a revolutionary point about they would of had to fix up his apartment, which if you really look at, there is no way anyone would make that for a replicant.

It's not impossible. The team for Star Wars Episode I made Anakins Skywalkers befroom out of scratch, and if you look, that has a lot of detail in.
And whos to say the apartment didn't belong to someones else, like a cop who had just died or something, which would give it that 'lived in' feel.

Nice point but the dek-a-rep theory has so many holes as that yuppie that was shot to death by ED-209 in ROBOCOP

I;m not doing to argue with you, but the 'Dec-a-rep' theory does have the major advantage that Mr. Ridley Scott says he was a rep... and it was his film...

He implies it very well but if it weren't for the unicorn which was only created recently and not the original version he'd still be human, the only real fact that the dec-a-rep people have is the unicorn. I ignore that and say he's human because it wasn't in the original version so Scott didn't envision it all those years ago, so it carry's little weight with me. So with it yeah i will say he's a rep but i don't acknowledge that scene as much as some people do and i think he is as human as you or me, just that he's having a bad day, and the "you people" line from Batty realy confirms why i take this viewpoint, not "us" he said "you".

Actually, I seem to remember reading that Ridley wanted the 'unicorn' scene in the original movie - they even shot the scene but had to re-shoot it again 10 years later for the director's cut.

The whole tension between Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott was over the Deck-a-Rep issue - Harrison hated the idea of Deckard being a rep and fought hard against it - in the end he got his own way.

So, I'd say the foundation of your argument is a little shakey...
