I may be wrong but i noticed a few things

1)They did lose track of 2 replicants
2)Roy Batty knew Deckards name

But there are a few wholes in that theory

1)Bryants long relationship with Deckard plus Bryant is too human to be a replicant.
2)Why would they only inplant new memories in only Deckard and Rachel?
3)Why would Roy Batty not break it to him that he is a replicant.
4)Why the Tyrell corperation would even bother with the memories for 2 escaped relplicants.
5)Why would they implant a replicant with a Blade Runner memory.

Six replicants escaped from Off-World, but one got lost between script and filming. Rachael was a Tyrell experiment. Whether you consider Deckard to be replicant or human, him being "the sixth rep" simply doesn't hold water at all.

Quote:

2)Roy Batty knew Deckards name

There are many ways he could know Deckard's name, from hacking into the police mainframe to simply overhearing it (or Leon hearing it and passing it on).

Quote:

But there are a few holes in that theory

1)Bryants long relationship with Deckard plus Bryant is too human to be a replicant.

Being "too human" doesn't seem to come into it when discussing Reps like Rachael and the possibility of Deckard. They seem all too human. And does not Roy show more humanity in the end than the humans? But I agree that Bryant being a Rep would seem very far fetched. Thing is, Bryant could be lying to Deckard, although this seems unlikely to me. Or Bryant could be unaware that Deckard is a Rep either because the Deckard Bryant has always known has always been a Rep or the Deckard Bryant has always known has been replaced by an exact copy. Again, to me, both of these seem quite ridiculous.

Quote:

2)Why would they only implant new memories in only Deckard and Rachel?

Rachael was an experiment. The experiment was to give her memories of a childhood to try to cushion her developing emotions. The hope being that if this experiment was successful, the same technique could be applied to the next range of Replicants to firstly make them "more human" and secondly to resolve the "problem" of them developing emotions and resultant desires to rebel.

Deckard. If he were a Replicant, then this only works if he is actually an extension of Tyrell's experiments with Rachael. However, the memories would have to be fairly up-to-date and a lot better than Rachael's who, despite being in an enclosed and protected environment was still "beginning to suspect". Deckard out on the street and not suspecting seems extremely unlikely. Also, Rachael would appear to have been given the memories before inception whereas although this could have been done under the general Deck-a-Rep theory, it couldn't for the Sixth Rep theory which would have required reprogramming - a completely different concept.

Quote:

3)Why would Roy Batty not break it to him that he is a replicant.

If Deckard were the Sixth Rep, surely the other Reps would have behaved differently? If Deckard is a human who they don't know, then all of their actions make sense.

Quote:

4)Why the Tyrell corperation would even bother with the memories for 2 escaped relplicants.

I think I've probably already covered this above.

Quote:

5)Why would they implant a replicant with a Blade Runner memory.

Difficult one to get one's head around, but I suppose if I'm being generous, I could think that who better to test out your ability to convince a Replicant that he is Human than to make him a Human who hunts Replicants?

Of course you could just chuck out the "Deckard is the Sixth Rep" theory by admitting that Deckard is Human...
Also i have a few more questions that i wonder if people can answer them which are pro-human evidence.

1)If Deckard's a repy then Why did Deckard fall short when Batty made the whole way across?

2)Also why is there a heartbeat sound When Leon takes the test and after Deckard retires Zhora?

Hey, Robo...As to the first question:

Reps seem to have differnt levels of strength--which will also determine how far they can jump. Apparently, Roy and Leon were level A (immensely strong), Pris and Zora were level B (stronger than average), and Deckard--if you go with the "Deckard's a rep" sinerio--would be a level C (regular human strength). That would explain why he didn't make the jump and why he got pounded by Roy.

As to your second question, I'm really not sure why.

Up to this point Roy hat beaten the crap out of a few humans and if Deck was a repy he would of stopped because he would be stronger than a human even though it is possible Deck is simply just a beefed up human. I mean Roy would have stopped an told him he is a replicant but he said "You people" he didn't say "They" he said "you people" "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, attack ships off the shoulder of Orion..." He is talking like Deck is a human so he doesn't know if he is a repy but all the evidence tells us he is human and as BRMovie says the Deck-a-rep theory doesn't hold water which is true.

I get you. I personally think of Deckard as human myself, but BR fans seem to be divided equally on this point, especilly after Ridely offically said Deckard IS a rep a while back.

The debate could go on and on, but that's like opening up a whole new can of worms.

[ This Message was edited by: endzem on 2002-09-07 19:55 ]

Welcome,`COP
I'm too lazy to make a link so... Pris and Zhora are both rated Level A for strength, just like Leon and Roy. It's their mental levels that were different.
