I know alot of people on here wonder about the whole 6th replicant thing and weather ford is in fact the 6th one. I belive from what i found on imdb this is not the case, in fact it is Stacy Nelkin a little known actress. Check it out..

Says she was mary the 6th one, should this close all discussion? I also hear that when they cut her they diddnt have time to remove all parts mentioning a 6th so it is confusing.

[ This Message was edited by: sva777 on 2002-11-29 01:52 ]

The story is well-known for ages, although it never can stop the arguing and suppositions...

Well, BR is the kind of move where even director's word won't stop the doubts.
If it would, the movie would never became a cult piece.

I also think the reason these arguments continue even after the "truth" is discovered, is that for many people the only "truth" they know, or want to know is the movie itself. And in the reality of the movie, film making mistakes dont exist. Therefore, there must be a "reason" the 6th replicant was mentioned, it must "allude" to something "important". I think it is a perfect example of how the "film viewers reality" becomes more important than the "film makers reality", and definately how a cult film is made.

As ridleynoir says, the "reality" within the film is not the same as the our reality of the making of the film. The Blade Runner FAQ has pages on this and it is much discussed, but what it comes down to is this: The "Sixth Rep" can be regarded as either a slip of the tongue by Bryant, or there really were six Reps. If there were six, some will argue that Deckard was the sixth. Although this argument doesn't make sense to even many Deck-a-Reppers. At the end of the day, the individual viewer's interpretation is all that matters.

This is the kind of thing that a well-designed DVD edition should resolve; e.g., with deleted scenes and production notes. Unfortunately, the fancy edition of Blade Runner is long on souvenirs (judging from the descriptions on Amazon) and short on giving us anything other than the so-called director's cut.

Frankly, I'd rather have the screenwriter's cut, than Ridley "Legend" Scott's cut!
