Following BRmovie's statement that Deckard is a human in the 'unicorn' topic, I suggested that we should have a vote, just to gauge the 'forum' feeling - at endzem's suggestion, I'm starting it again here.

This is just a straightforward vote one way or the other - you don't have to justify your position, I don't want this to turn into a full-blown discussion - for the record, I prefer to think of Deckard as a Replicant.

BRmovie and Endzem have both voted for 'human'.

The current score is:

Deckard is a human: 2
Deckard is a replicant: 1

There are a hundred registered users of this forum and we have an unknown number of 'guests' that view it - so come on everybody, give us your votes!

BTW, don't forget to carry forward the current 'score'...

_________________

The difference between the impossible and the possible is equal to the difference between today and tomorrow.

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-11-28 15:28 ]

Consider both versions - this vote is not about which movie version supports which theory, but more about personal preference - I prefer to think Deckard is a replicant, I'm not going to justify that or provide supporting 'proof/evidence'.

As far as I know there's no conclusive 'proof' either way - but that's not important in this thread, I don't want to start another discussion, I just want to know, based on what you've seen and read, how you prefer to see Deckard.

_________________

The difference between the impossible and the possible is equal to the difference between today and tomorrow.

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-11-29 07:08 ]

Deckard a replicant? Hell no. He's human. He's a burnt-out, no-good, rep-loving, has-been. But he's human.

SCORE: Human 7
Skin-job 2

--Harry Bryant

i have a thread below this with excerpts from an interview with Ridley Scott...

My vote, i like him more as a human, but he's a replicant in the movie, they changed that for audience approval rating.

Replicant 4
Human 7

[ This Message was edited by: Kevin Kool on 2001-11-30 02:36 ]

Pardon? Ridley Scott went to some trouble during the filming itself to make out that Deckard was a Replicant. This is one of the major sources of contention between Scott and Ford. The unicorn origami was specificlaly added for this purpose. (And thus the chicken origami and stick man were added to set it up). Efforts were made to make "Reps" eyes glow. And the unicorn scene we see in the DC was from the original filming. The changes in the OV were because the producers and test audiences didn't have a clue.
Now, while I accept Scott did this, I just happen to think he was wrong and as hugely as I respect his work, I also see the film as being separate from him. So whatever he might say is all very interesting, but it is not relevant to the BR virtual world.
Read carefully. This is not a post for discussion, so relax and now tell us what is your vote? If you don't want to vote, that's fine too.

I want Deckard to be human, but I can't lie. The unicorn thing was shown in the movie, Ridley Scott said he was a android, and I read the book and it kind of hints that Deckard may be an android. Also, remember when Rachel says: "Have you ever taken the test yet?"
By the way, Deckard has the "magic" of being a Blade Runner. Maybe that is because he is a droid. Holden died easily but just two gun shots. Deckard survived a lot, even though he is the main character.
