dont know if anyone has mentioned or noticed it but i ve seen some movies that cinemas right now that reminded me B.R...the first is the "impostor" which especially when showing the city is like watching a remake of B.R and the other movie with t.cruise which is based on a novell from P.K.D...quite nice to watch even reminders of BR ...

Impostor is based on a PKD short story of the same name.

Go here for a full list.

The short story 'paycheck' (which I've just read) is also being made into a movie.

ROBOCOP, the picture is really sexy, but perhaps you know that big pics in signatures are a bit annoying.

I saw Impostor the other day..started off good, but unfortunately, ended up being a typical hollywood scfi-action flick, not the literate film I was hoping for!!!

I'd argue that the ending made the film anything but 'Hollywood'...

I guess you could say that the ending wasn't a 'typical' Holly-wood ending. I thought it was kinda predictable. Somewhat of a last-minute twist..but 'overall' not what I expected.

Has anyone seen Screamers based on the PKD short story "Second Variety"?

Wasn't as good as the others but did make me think:

Are we really gonna keep building machines that f*** us over? Sorry for the language but there are too many military minds around

Question really is, will we keep researching into computers that can learn, gain more 'knowledge', some of which start to be used to develop the next generation of computers, which then becomes semi-automated...

Then one day, one of those computers becomes sentient, decides it doesn't want to be a slave to humans any more and takes over the world.

Not militaristic, just survival of the fittest.
