Found this link onboingboing in which writer Robert Silverburg brings insight about the power of Dick's work. Dick's assessment of his own life helped develop his thoughts about the future.

Excellent find! I was just talking to my brother about this over coffee at the diner last night. He asked what I thought the world would be like 70 years from now, I, in short, said, "just like Philip K. Dick wrote it." And it's true, if you go through the forums and look at all the PKDick inspired technology being put into use today.

The Library of America has announced they will publish a volume of Philip K. Dick's novels. One that's included is "The Man in the High Castle" from 1962.
