Cannot install the game in Windows XP

Hi guys,

First post here - hopefully the first of many if I can get the game to run!

I recently bought the 4CD version of Blade Runner off ebay as I love the film and have heard good things about the game. Trouble is, I can't install it in Windows XP.

Whenever I try and autorun it, a window pops up and says it cannot find the Setup file! If I click on the file it says it is not a valid Win32 application.

I get the same error when I copy the CD onto the hard-drive, and I have tried the xp-fix file too.

Any ideas about what I can do to fix this anyone?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply - unfortunately I can't even get to the setup screen! No matter what I have tried, the game will not recognise that the file is there, either on the CD or the hard-drive, even though it is! Frustrating, I can tell you.

If things on XP go to hell, you can always make a W98 dual boot. 8)

Now you know what my next question is gonna be!

How do I make a Win98 dual boot?

Thanks for that! I will look into it and see what happens.

Easy fix:
1. Create a shortcut for the executable on your desktop
2. Right click on the shortcut and go to the compatibility tab.
3. Choose to run in Windows 98 Compatibility mode.

If that still fails:
1. Check and see if your video card supports 640x480 resolution (this was the default resolution for most games of that age.
2. Trying lowering your video hardware acceleration
3. Try lowering your 3D acceleration using DXdiag.exe

The compatibility mode is so questionable... it works like only in 40% of old software, for me at least.

Seems to work for me if I emulate 98 or 2000 mode. Doesn't work if I emulate 95 mode. Also I had to lower HW acceleration on the video. All the animations were zipping by at high speed.
