Hey,
I just got an original full version copy of Blade Runner on a single DVD-Rom disc off ebay, apparently it was bundled with a Packard Bell PC. I tried it in my computer but it wouldn't work and I have a good feeling it only works in Packard Bell PC's!
Could anyone confirm this? I know some PC manafacturers put some sort of software on thier copies of windows and other programs so they only work in thier computers, but surley they wouldn't do this on Blade Runner?

Heya.

BR on DVDs are quite a rare case, as to my knowledge they were indeed bundled only with some brands of DVD-ROM drives...

But I don't suppose it would be working only on specific brands of PC, because that would demand the PC manufacturer to alternate the program, in essence it would be tampering with a complex software body, and that would in turn demand allowance from the software publisher. Can be, dunno.

ITT it's more possible that the DVD is not compatible with your newer DVD drive. I'd recommend you to try to install it on a different computer.

Buying stuff on ebay is always a risk becuase you don't know what precisely are you buying, right... :(

I'd say your right, I tried it in my external DVD-Rom drive on my laptop running XP and it worked just fine, I fully installed it and ran it without any problems. I don't know why it wouldn't work on my desktop PC?

Yeah I heard it was quite rare too but I know very little about it. It has a "Bundled Software" logo on it and theres a sentence on the disc saying that it is not to be sold seperatly, at the top there is a Packard Bell Logo and a little copyright sentence underneath it.
The size of the disc is 2.25GB and as far as I can tell its exactly the same as the CD-Rom version.
There was no case that came with it, according to the seller it originaly came in a plastic sleeve with his computer.
