Do android dogs dream of electric cats?

Well, here's a classic that you might not have seen...circa 2001, from Japan (of course).

Omron, the company most known for medical electronics, made a robo-cat for a brief time. It's not Nuku Nuku, it's not Doraemon, it's just...weird. Uncanny Valley, here we come...

I hope nobody minds newbies ressurecting old threads. Although the referenced YouTube video appears to be gone, it did make me recall one of my favorite animal androids. For those SciFic fans who have read Neil Stephenson's Snow Crash, I am referring to Mr. Ng's cyborg security dog (a "Rat Thing" as I believe they were called.) I won't give any spoilers since I highly recommend the book, but it was one of my favorite parts of the story. Let's just say I loved its dream...

But misspellings (on my part) due to haste are not, LOL!

That video is simultaneously funny and creepy (possibly driven by the fear that I might end up actually being that guy with the mechanical cat some day. A far cry from getting to drive off with Rachel*.)
