I don't know if it had any effect, but over the last six years or so, there was a pretty huge petition to get the workprint of Alien3 out there... we eventually got that one! :D

Well, same deal, as far as I know. In the Quadrilogy, they call it the '1991 Assembly Cut', which equates to 'Workprint' according to all I'd read about the workprint.

Am I wrong? Have I missed something?

still going on

"It sadens me to see the rubbish that gets released on DVD while we still wait for a Blade Runner Special Release worthy of this masterpiece."

"C'Mon, Jerry! Aren't you the......good man?"

" There are FANS out here!"

just a few good quotes form the petition to get your spirits up.

Personally I hope, now that a couple of HD-DVDs were already released, that we get a HD version of Blade Runner.

Personally i would prefer 2-3 diffrent dvd-r discs, i want the movies on seperate discs and with its own covers, i`d dislike the idea of HD DVD with 2-3 versions of the movie on one disc and naturally one cover for them all, but thats just me i guess :D

Whichever format gets chosen, I really hope BR gets the treatment it deserves - including the packaging presentation. Maybe with all the legal crap associated with BR, and this unbelievable delay of a quality release, we may eventually get something very high-tech. When the world was converting from VHS to DVD, the DC of BR was one of the earliest releases on the new format if I remember correctly.( and earlier on Laser Disk, for that matter). I'm hoping BR will be on the cutting-edge of technology when the damned thing finally is available to all of us.
Blu-ray Disc is a good candidate IMO. Many of you have probably heard about this new disc format soon to be a household name,( there is another one too but I can't remember it right now) but I've made a link to some info if you want to read it.
This DVD format would allow us to have every version of BR in their entirety (in HD picture and DTS sound) and still have hours upon hours of disc space for all the goodies we want, all on one disc
I only hope they would still have this 1 disc in a sleek, monster-sized package. With a booklet, lobby cards or whatever... (OK now I'm getting overly excited) :)

That other format you couldnt mention, i think thats HD DVD, saw a little about it on the TV, they said that the two competing formats where blue-ray and HD DVD, the last one is going to be in the market a bit sooner, but blue-ray can hold more data (50GB i think, and HD DVD 30GB).

With the HDV (holographic Versatile Disc), I think we might have a winner... Not so close as to prevent the rise of Blu-ray or HDDVD, though.

Mmm, 1 Terabyte... [drools]

Considering that they never even metioned that format, im sure it will take years until we see it fully developed and out there in shops for the public.
They said that HD DVD was to be found out there in shops in late 2005, mid 2006 as a established media format and Blue-ray 6-8 months after.
Something like that, i dont recall exactly.

Ofcourse HDV is also welcome, the better fat link you got, the more space you need (atleast thats the way ive noticed it to be.. harddrives always full).
