The #1 movie this weekend at the box office was Saw IV. There is no accounting for taste. Its per-screen average was $10,087 US.

Now here's the interesting stuff for us. BR:FC, the little reissue that could, had these very awesome numbers:
  Code:
Title                     Studio   Weekend Gross   % Change   Theater Count / Change   Average      Total Gross   Week #
Blade Runner: The Final Cut    WB       $60,500       +132.6%    6             +4       $10,083    $367,000       4

Now what was that per-screen average on Saw IV? $10,087? BR:FC is right behind them with $10,083. That's just a $4 difference in mean per-screen take!!! And this is for a movie that's in only a few theatres and has been there for FOUR weeks.

Warner Bros., you have a freaking GOLD MINE on your hands!!!
Figure it out!!!

Can we hope for a WIDE release of BR:FC before the DVD/HD/BluRay drops? Maybe...just maybe...

Well, you have to take in account that Saw 4 has multiple screens showing it in the thousands, whereas Blade Runner has less than 10 screens in the entire country showing it, mostly on one screen only. A lot more people are gonna pack into those limited shows. If BR was in as high a screen count as Saw 4, it would probably be less than what it is now. There ARE a lot of BR fans, but in comparison to people who want to see Saw 4 (including teenagers and young adults who make up the majority of the movie going audience), it (sadly) wouldn't be as much. I'm just speculating, but that's how I see it.

Yes, they have a gold mine. I think the fanbase has pushed its luck enough by asking for a nice DVD set. We can't push it anymore asking for a wider release. I'm sure it's out of their hands. Plus, they could probably make more money selling the DVD set at christmas time. $10 a movie ticket, or $50 a dvd set. Easy math there.
