Here's some comparisons I've done and posted on another site. The images come from the 1997 and the 2006 re-issue Director's Cut DVDs.

Top: R1 Original release
Bottom: R1 remastered

Personally, I think the remastered version looks quite excellent. I did notice though that there is some contrast boosting resulting in White-out or clipping occuring in brighter areas. I'm curious to see if the new set will feature differences in quality at all from the re-issue.

I'd like to see some comparisons in Deckard's apartment...particularly this one shot where says "they're classified" and "Didn't look at them" when Rachel questions him if he's looked at her files. That's one of my favorite shots in the movie.

Not hard to tell the differences. :)
It simply looks more real. The colours and licht.

totally agree! where the h*ll is the red shift!?! that's how we all knew BR like, and that's what we want! i'm totally pissed off on this. i'd prefer not to see all those cutting details rather than to see a BR that's looks like any other ordinary movie. BR is "mood" first, then detail. and the red component we used to see in there is a huge part of the BR mood. what was of it now? thumbs down IMHO.

about the changing of the colours in many scenes.. that's not just an enhancing but a change of mood.

Can't say I'm happy about most of the color balance changes in their still form; I'll just have to see how it affects the film watching experience. I'll try to keep an open mind, but this was a real blow to my enthusiasm.

These examples are comparing the original release with the DC cut. NOT the FC.

Even still, the Final Cut's color correction should be the same.

Hopefully Charlie is still around to see this so he could provide his thoughts on the subject.

You guys remind me a little of the episode of the Antiques Roadshow where the guy happily showed his refinished antique table and the appraiser told him because he took off the origional patina, instead of being worth over a 100 thousand dollars, it is now only worth 30 Gs. 70 plus grand out the window :). The movie is our own little antique with it's much beloved patina.

Actually after watching the new remastered version a few times, I am begining to like it more, and it wouldn't take much to amp the red on your TV in the controlls to get the old look back.
