Well i think i can tell you what's happening so far, absolutly naff all.
as you probably have read in my other post there was no planned cinema release etc. Well i have just got an email from the second largest chain in the UK and this is what it says

" I have spoken to our marketing and film buying department, they have sent me a copy of the release projections for all films in the coming months. Unfortunately Blade Runner does not appear to be one of the films that will be showing.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this occasion, I hope you are able to find it and get to see it back on the big screen.

Kind Regards

Paul "

I called Scott Free again and they confirmed that Ridley Scott has no plans for any promo in the UK.
Warner Bros London refuse to even talk to me about it so i am going to go to their office next week to find out why they are so negative.

I look in envy on all the great things that have happened in the US and feel really fed up that British fans are seen not to be worth bothering about.
Warner Bros can't loose though, i will be buying everything i can lay my hands on, and don't they just know it. Why bother putting yourslf out and spending a few quid on advertising and merchandising if you don't have to.
:x

In Future Noir there is a story that the film's distribution rights were owned by Fox in England. It was part of the reason that they had issues getting the workprint into Warner's hands for LA screenings. I am not sure it is still true or not, but it may be part of the issue that Warners still may not have the Distribution rights there even if Fox doesn't. Do the current DVD's in England have the WB logo now or the Fox logo? You are also almost as far away from Venice as most of us are from NYC or LA. I also heard in one of the Charlie DeLazerika interviews that if the premiers do well enough, a broader release may be considered. If it sells out like the workprint did in 1990-91, I think we could have lightning strike twice as they say. It would be up to the 'average' fans for this to happen though.

Hi ridlynoir

Every Format of video i have that is from the UK has the WB logo on it.
STOP PRESS
Wile i was writing this WB finaly got back to me, perhaps it was my planned meeting in London next week, i think they did not want me there. They said "We must remain tight lipped at the moment for certain legal reasons but there will be a lot happening"

Yippee

I thought Embassy was only on the old tapes...my DVDs are Warner.

I have just decided, i am going to Venice. Ridley Scott is going to be at the Premier and with a bit of luck so will i. Tickets are not available to pre book but are available the day before if you stand and queue. I just hope they will let ordinary punters in to see it. Hope it's not in Italian!!

Wow, New Line? That's one logo I would have never expected to see associated with Blade Runner.

geeze, embassy home video has not been avail here in the UK since.. er, the birth of VHS ??

im not going to Venice or Burbank or San Diego (for any sneak preview) but i can confirm to Scott Free, that Hove (actually) is that place im hiding out, and can do a review and get it on BZ within the hour.

just seems nobody is listening.
