Empire magazine: Blade Runner final cut special

I've just discovered that the Uk Empire magazine of august 2007 contains a very precious 20 pages dossier about the upcoming Blade Runner final cut with interviews of Rutger Hauer and Harrison Ford among others, a lot of unseen pics and scenes and a very rare interview with Vangelis!
Please, there are someone living in Uk on this forum who could be so smart to share with us some excerpts from that magazine?

I found this right on Empire's website. Also, the Us should be getting the issue, probably at the end of July (26 maybe?) or sometime in August.

Thank you for the image (it's the same one released in the Vangelis Blade Runner soundtrack booklet of 1994). The Empire magazine has been already released in Uk as far as I know so, please, everyone who lives in Uk share some images with us!

When i first read this thread, i rushed out to my local 24-hour petrol station/convenience store to buy a copy of empire. I had almost given up when i spotted a copy, bought it and rushed home.

Maybe im very hard to please, but i though that the extensive multi-page feature was telling me things i already knew.

Could be because you're a bigger Blade Runner fan that the average reader.

I agree with nails6365, most of it i already knew but it was interesting nonetheless...

However near the end of the Rutger Hauer section it claims that when deckard is about to fall from the building, Batty ,as we all know,grabs deckard from falling to his death...fine agreed ! but it also says that batty exclaims "Ah! Kinship!" as he grabs him..

Bollocks ! its merely the sound of batty straining to hold on

Maybe my first post was a little harsh, any yes since i sift through a vast amount of data here, there is a hell of alot i already knew.

What did surprise me was how much charles is mentioned more than Ridley, even saying that charles directed the re-shoots and that ridely was merely over-seeing from afar (due to other pictures taking place)

final verdict? the great 20 page spread should be enough to satisfy anyone who has Br in their blood. Hauer is as ever on form, and curious to answer more questions. After reading his latest book and getting a signed autograph posted to me by Gary Willoughby, hes now right up in my top 3.

Ridiculous. It's quite clear that batty shouts, "Quiche!" when he grabs Deckard's arm. Replicants love a good quiche, because 'real men don't eat it'.

I know the bit where he says that kinship line. It's definitely there...odd that the subtitles don't have it.

If I remember correctly, Haur swears he never said the line, but the fact is, the line is there, which means that Scott added it post-production.

"Ah, kinship, UHH!" is in the workprint, DC, and international cut, which means it's in the domestic cut.

But is it really a line, or just a random vocalization?

Subtitling and closed-captioning are subjective arts, and are often done by people who don't even have a copy of the script in their hands. Or sometimes the film is improv-heavy (as are Ridley's), and the subtitler has to 'wing it'.

Star Wars comes to mind as an example of this. Back in the VHS days, I put on the closed-captioning because I didn't understand what a certain stormtrooper was saying. The exchange went like this:

STORMIE 1:
What was that?

STORMIE 2:
Nothing. Hot gases. Don't worry about it.

Thinking that was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard, I checked it out on dvd when it was finally released. Here's how it went:

STORMIE 1:
What was that?

STORMIE 2:
Nothing. Top gassing. Don't worry about it.

Which one is correct? I doubt even George Lucas knows. In each case, some subtitler heard the line, and made a judgement call. I think the same has happened here.

I mean, come on... 'kinship'? That's stupid!
