UK pre-orders now available

Hmmm...

Just received "Notify Me" emails from Play.com and hmv.co.uk.

They're both selling the 5 disc edition for ?17.99 (about $36) -

- HOWEVER despite being advertised as the Ultimate Collectors' Edition (as per the US briefcase edition) it does not appear that the briefcase edition itself will be made available in the UK.

A closer look at the description on the HMV site states that it will come in a tin. Not a briefcase. Also, the image attached is the same as the US Ultimate Edition image - minus the briefcase, spinner and origami unicorn.

Me, personally, I don't care: I was only going to buy the briefcase edition simply because I was under the impression that the 5 disc edition was ONLY available in said briefcase (which, having again checked out Amazon.com, still appears to be the case in the US).

... Of course, there will be some die-hards UK fans who will be seriously pissed if indeed the briefcase edition isn't available!

CORRECTION: in the US the 5 disc edition IS available outwith the briefcase - however, the packaging is completely different; it would appear that only the UK 5 disc edition packaging will be the same as that featured inside the US briefcase edition.

Also, I don't see any listing on Amazon US for the 5 disc edition on standard-definition DVD format - at least outwith the briefcase.

I have a feeling your are right about that, i just checked with WB UK and they said that it has not decided on the package yet, that sounds to me like it will not be the Brief Case, they did say however that the release is set for the 3rd Dec for all versions inc Blu ray

Yes, I really live in Los Angeles. Srsly. And yeah, life really does imitate art here. Especially now we've got those video billboards. No spinners yet. But I suppose that's next.

Any indication so far as to whether the December 3rd date is an just error? If not, is it only coming out earlier in the UK? Perhaps the entire schedule has been bumped up, meaning a sooner release in North America as well?

HA! That's the comic-con spinner! I have that thing. It's very cool, very nifty.

I've also heard the Australian release is the 5th. I hope R1 release will be moved up from the 18th. As it stands right now, even with the fastest shipping, I wouldn't be able to get the set delivered from Amazon until part way into January
