During "A.F.I.'s 100 Years... 100 movies:10th Anniversary" on CBS.

Can't believe I'm the first to mention it. About 3 hours ago I saw a commercial for the Final Cut during this program. Totally caught me off guard. It featured BR near the beginning and H. Ford said some nice things about the film. Shortly thereafter, during a break, it started. I scooted forward in my chair and was glued to the TV like a 7 year-old kid watching cartoons. I could hear my wife behind me thinking, "madman".

I guess the biggest news I could share with you all would be the inclusion of the scene from the Workprint with the dancers in hockey masks and Geisha wigs outside the Snake Pit in the plastic bubbles. =D> =P~

Actually I beat you to it...look at my thread "I missed it"

I just downloaded the trailer and have watched it maybe 10 times or more. They show the Footage of Zhora with Joanna's Face imposed in both the glass crashing scene and the Esper Photo. They are both very subtle and work perfectly.

Kudos, ridleynoir. eccentricbeing had posted already, too.
After I saw the commercial, I said, " I bet the Boards are lighting-up like neon signs in Ridleyville." When I first logged on, I was surprised to see nobody had mentioned it yet. By the time I did some catch-up reading and posted my comment, you two had posted... (navigation of the boards is very slow lately) but that's another thread.

Just curious...
Does the commercial look more like an ad for the upcoming DVD, or like a movie trailer? Of course, I was thinking Trailer the whole time I watched it... that's why I entitled this thread as i did.
I know there are DVD, HDDVD and BLU-RAY insignia at the end but, also there is the movie-poster-style credits. Also, every commercial during this program was for upcoming movie releases.
I guess it doesn't really matter... just curious how other people interpreted it. ???

I guess what I really meant was, Theatrical Release ad. as opposed to a DVD ad. :)

I knew what you meant. ; )

It looked like a DVD ad, but smelt of theatricality.

I used a smelloscope. Works wonders, especially at the White Dragon.

I wonder what the 300 trailer will look like.

It's so freaking nice to finally get that blade runner font in the actual movie again. This is gonna be so sweet.

Thanks to Philip Steinschneider, who saved them the work of creating the font... He did it all by himself like 9 years ago, with just a DVD cover reference and some printed materials... I've always felt so grateful to him for making such a cool font available to all us fans. He also made a spinner font, check them out and download them here, his official website:

you're meaning that Warner used Steinschneider's own BR font!?!

Well, I can't show you pics  but that is a g-damn faithful font, and the copyright on that lettering has always been in the studios hands so...

Philip didn't have permission to do what he did, never claimed ownership or coyrights and never made a penny out of the font. So I'd say it is not such a wild guess that they, as all of us do, used it, I could bet you a beer.

It looks like the studio had made a 3D font for the new release and only for the logo. So I doubt that Phil's was used. They may have used it for rough layouts perhaps. The final Logos look all new to me though.
