mind you, my UCE's been shipped on last 3 Dec and hasn't arrived yet. considering that the conveyors and truck drivers are on strike these days in Italia, i think i'll be putting my eyes on my UCE way after you put yours. i'll be pretty much the last in the world to see the UCE. also, i'll have to wait about February/March to get the Italian version. damn...

(not that i need for translation, of course, it's just for the subtitles on the docs).

All the featurettes and Dangerous Days are subtitled in italian in this UK tin box version. I can confirm you since I watched almost the entire amount of stunning extra-material contained in the 5-discs set yesterday night
(delivered very fast despite the strike).
Important note: never seen deleted scenes and outtakes are edited also in the Dangerous Days documentary as well as in many other featurettes.

I just placed my order on amazon.com this morning (5 disc briefcase set). I would have waited until next week to pick it up at Circuit City or Best Buy but amazon gives you $30.00 off your first order if you get their credit card. Too bad I can't afford a bluray or hddvd player right now or I'd go that route.

IF you do order from amazon, I can tell you that you won't get it before Christmas if you use their free super shipper option (um, what's so super about it then).

Is the price at Best Buy for the 5-disc otherwise the same as Amazon? I can't make heads or tails of BB's item descriptions.

You have me a bit worried... I ordered my BR 5-disc ultimate from Amazon and selected the option for "I wanted it yesterday".
I've always had good experience with Amazon and ordering stuff, I sincerely hope my set will be in my player on the 19th.

[quote="starramus"]I will overdose on the Brief case X 2. The regular DVD version plus the BluRay. I hope BluRay isn't a format that will end like Beta.

Hey, I like my Beta! I got both a player and the 1982 extended release for less that the DC when it was released. :D

Besides, I think Sony has learned from its mistakes from Beta and will market what seems to be the better format in a better way than Beta.

BTW, for those wondering "why?". Very simply: Cost and version.

Beta movies were not made after a certain time frame. Since ebay sellers don't always know what they have exactly, my best bet was to get and original release in Beta. I also happen to know that beta players were still available at the time and that pretty much covered the requirements.

Besides, until now, the extended non DC was not readily available except on VHS or Beta.

I preordered mine too. I chose UCE BTW. DVD is good enough for watching.

Also, I have no desire to get a new format at this time. I already have 4 formats. I don't really need any more.

What really gets me is that the Bluray set has 5 discs! Why? Blueray has 10xDVD capability (if pushed to its maximum potential). So why 5 discs?? Very odd!

True.

I ordered mine back in July with 1-day shipping, as well as the Vangelis CD set.

That said, I must say that seeing it at Santa Barbara's Arlington Theatre in 2K bit depth with a Kodak Cinema Systems/DLP engine system was absolutely divine. I couldn't tell you the difference between how it looked in SB on a 2K system vs. at The Landmark in West Los Angeles on a Sony 4K system. I must be a Philistine. The superior sound system in SB sort of helped too...perhaps I missed some of the cues that the visuals were suffering because the sound system was so much better than in West LA.

Hope this clears a few things up...Ms. Geek

Don't worry about it. Some of us still think that a picture projected 75' at 24fps refresh rate is the correct way to display a film.

The site was telling me it would arrive on the 27th if I used the super shipper option so I changed it to the two day option. Depending on what carrier they use it could have arrived before the 27th using super shipper but I didn't want to take the chance. I want this before Christmas, not after!!! I'll start tracking my order Tuesday and may add a couple of cds that none of the stores stock. BB and other stores don't want to stock the Alan Parsons Project remasters!

sigh...despite the fact that We Live Our Separate Lives, the Eye In The Sky is still looking down upon all of us as we walk through Ammonia Avenue, getting Old And Wise, and watch the rising of the White Dawn.

I have the same grievance. I haven't seen the remastered albums in any store. I'm really getting sick of these Games People Play, I really hope they get these albums in stock. Otherwise, all I have to listen to is the cawing of that noisy Raven.

I'll just have to pretend I'm basking in the Limelight of fans sad about not finding albums from one of their favorite bands before Christmas EVE.

On that note...

Someone should do a piece called "The Fall of the House of Deckard".

I wrote a short poem titled "The Fall of Tyrell".

(I haven't heard of "White Dawn" until now. I looked it up. Interesting. I'll have to get a hold of it.)
