Lucky chap, you can order from US Amazon, right? Because we Euros can't

We can. I did, from Austria. Last time it has been comics, this time it's the briefcase.

Why do you think it's impossible to order from amazon.com in Europe?

It may have been so (I remember trying and getting an error along the lines many years ago), but that time has passed fortunately...

Hi
I'm from Ireland and ordered the briefcase in HDDVD from amazon in the us.
They quoted me for express international delivery and charged me import duties and everything.they wont charge until they send it though.
I cant see how they wont ship it now.

I just order my briefcase: BR ULTIMATE COLLECTOR'S EDITION (5-DISC).

As stated previously, Amazon will not charge until they ship out. I have been watching my original theatrical version VHS for too long. I never watched or bought the Director's Cut because I was holding out for this.

I can't wait! I am SO STOKED to get this! :D

Thanks for info guys. Well I checked with US Amazon and the briefcase R1 UCE would cost me, according to my calculations, about 13,3 USD less than the stripped down R2 UCE. If I count in shipping costs it would be cheaper by maybe 10 USD.

Doesn't it suck!

Problem is that at current state I can't cancel the R2 order at local online megastore and I don't want to order both things at once. Maybe I buy the briefcase from Amazon later afterall. If there will be some left, heh...

Another thing is that the megastore promises to deliver it after Dec 3rd, while the R1 UCE is planned for release on Dec 18th. Could it be that I get my R2 UCE 2 weeks sooner than people who ordered R1 briefcase? Interesting.

Definitely the 5-disc DVD version!!!

The fact that it has a metal spinner model is totally worth it. I almost payed $150 for a fan-made resin model on Ebay last year!

Deckard, you've managed to avoid BR on dvd for the last ten years??? That's amazing... I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Final Cut, since you've never seen the DC!

And not to derail the thread, but your post reminds me that I'm really looking forward to seeing the International (my favourite) Cut of the film on dvd...

Yes, I have. It hasn't been easy, but I have continued watching the tape I own exclusively. I have had to buy 2 VCRs to keep a working VHS in my house just for Blade Runner. That VHS version echoes what I remember from seeing the picture on the big screen, so I have not been lacking, but it will be nice to finally see the extras. I'm looking forward to watching the Final Cut and the Director's version along with the other extras.

No, I?m deadly serious. I never wanted to watch it because I knew it wasn?t the version Scott had intended, and was merely a studio ploy to make more money. I didn?t want to give them mine until I was getting what I wanted. I think that is about to happen. I ordered my 5-disc briefcase last week. :D

...and she's getting her mom into it, too. we're at watching no.3, which is not bad for a 60 y.o. woman who's not into movies at all.

mind you, i've been forced to, as the DVD was released just a few months ago in Italia

good, but it wasn't that different from it. i mean, the FC is basically a cleaned-up and restored DC. also, just for mere curiosity i would at least rent it out once. anyway, the choice is yours

I ask again: is there a 5-disc DVD without the briefcase?

Nope. To get the Workprint Version, you have to buy the briefcase. :P
Yes, I really live in Los Angeles. Srsly. And yeah, life really does imitate art here. Especially now we've got those video billboards. No spinners yet. But I suppose that's next.

Or buy the HD-DVD or Blue-ray versions. The 5 disc set of those without the case supposedly will also have all the extras.
