Blade Runner Ambiguity

To anyone out there:

This is only the second time I have written to this forum, so this question might've been asked before. The director's cut DVD of Blade Runner says on the back of the box that it includes newly restored footage that might suggest Deckard is a replicant. I know that this is more of a touched-upon topic in Philip Dick's book, but what I was wondering is:
Is the part where Deckard dreams of a unicorn supposed to be the major implication that Deckard himself is a replicant? All I can come up with is the fact that he has this dream, and then Gaff at the end of the movie drops his little orgami unicorn near Deckard's apartment. This to me indicates false memory implants, like Rachel's spiders or her memory of playing doctor. Am I getting this right? I have not pored over every second of the movie to try to figure this out; I generally only watch the movie about once or twice a year. (Any more than this, and movies start to lose their drama and appeal.) I remember hearing that six replicants were supposed to have escaped from the off-world colony on Mars. One was killed in the attempt. That leaves Baty, Zhora, Pris, and Leon. I guess that leaves one unaccounted for. Since Rachel was Tyrell's replicant, and was apparently already on Earth at the time, I guess that could suggest Deckard was one himself. Also, did anybody else out there like the original, Harrison Ford-narrated version of Blade Runner better? I know I did.

yes thats one of the major point for the deck a rep theorists so is the "6 escaped... one got fried" but this is actually a mistake there was supposed to be another replicant named mary but due to money and time constraints her part was cut and the dialouge wasn't changed. ubless of course your a hard core deck-a-rep then yea he is the 6th rep

im with you i preffer the V.O. version over the DC i think it gives it the more noir/gritty/detective story feel

I've no problem with the possibility that Deck is a Rep but I have never considered the '6th Rep' theory as anything more than an error in the editing of the movie - I think most people who have looked at the discrepancies in the movie know the reasons for the 'missing' replicant and therefore discard that 'fact' early on....

...0h and BTW, Rachael is not the 5th Replicant - a male named 'Hodge', who appeared in an early script, was the 6th Replicant who got fried in the electrical field and 'Mary' was the 5th who would have been killed in JF's apartment along with Pris had she not been dropped from the script just before shooting started...

...of course in DADOES there was 8 replicants, though I can't remember all their names off the top of my head.

1.) Roy Baty
2.) Irmgard Baty
3.) Pris
4.) Rachel (In the book she was very mean.)
5.) Luba Luft (I guess a sort of prototype of Zhora.)
6.) Polokov (Prototypical Leon, maybe...?)
7 & 8.) Two replicants supposedly killed in escape attempt.
It's been a long time since I've read that book. :D [/quote]
