I have always thought Blade Runner was the inspiration for the Toyota 4Runner SUV logo. BR came out in '83 and the first 4Runner in '84 1/2. Note the similarity in the "A" in Blade and the "4" - also, a trace of the thin horizontal line is there (vertical now) between the 4 and the R Image Image

Do I need to get a life, or does the number 4 seem to pop-up a lot in Blade Runner? The FIRST thing Rick says is "Gimmie 4...no 2..2, ...4!" "I got 4 skin jobs walking the steeets" "..There's 3 to go..--There's 4!" "4th Sector" is refered to at least 3 times, I could mention more 4's that show up.....

In this case, fenderbullet, you better get a life.

No really, the number associations in BR go even deeper than that.

*thinks about buying Toyota Nexus 4 spinner*

Deeper how? There do seem to be a lot of fours, e.g. four replicants, but four to my knowledge is not a number with symbolic significance like three or seven. Enlighten me.

Well, this might seem to be a little weird, but you know whats the number of Deckard?s appartment? :D

9732, right? 97 is the number of the floor.

AND...

Draw | in front of 3 and 2 and you have "BR" - Blade Runner.

The Blade Runner game has been released in '97.

The 4Runner is a 4 wheel drive vehicle, 4 powered feet, like an animal. Replicants weren't made from human cells/DNA in my opinion. (Maybe Rachael was) I mean, if they were, they WOULD be human. Some synthetic DNA was probably used, and if it's alive and non human, I guess it would be an called animal. Remember when Pris is about to go into J.F.'s building? There was like a wild cat sound and those two green "cat eyes" behind her- The lampshade in Bryant's office with the big game hunting sceene? Animals were a central theme in BR and "..Electric Sheep"

number significance...

Perhaps the significance of the number 4 is that there is no significance. 3 and 7 are both numbers of great importance in Celtic mythology. As we all know the Celts are famous for having a very close relationship with nature (worshipping groves etc.), perhaps the number 4 is used because it is a step past 3, it shows that cities have evolved past nature and everything that the Celtics held dear. Therefore, since the number 4 has no relationship to nature or mythology, it represents a place where mankind is cut off from nature, where man has become isolated from the communal spirit represented by the Celts and their number 3.
Just a thought.
