I read on here a while ago an essay written on Leon's blackhole firearm. Now judging by the scene where he shoots Holden and the scene where Deckard fires his own firearm, it makes me think they're one in the same. Is Deckard also using the same blackhole weapon as Leon or is it just a suped up pistol, standard for BR's? Any opinions?

im gonna have to say that deck's is just a souped up pistol not a black hole weapon although it is never really specified what Deckards guns ammo really is

From what I've observed, I assume that Deckard's is a standard, large-caliber firearm. I'm sure that the gun has some nice bells and whistles on it, though.

I assume that Deckard's blaster would be more powerful than Redhawks/SuperRedhawks and Casulls too. However, considering that he doesn't suffer much from obvious recoil when firing the gun, I wonder if there isn't some sort of internal recoil-absorbing mechanism. I can fire a .44 Magnum without an observer noticing too much recoil, but the .454 Casull is a different matter entirely. Thus, considering that Deckard seemingly fires the blaster without much evidence of recoil, I figure that the gun has some sort of mechanism which compensates for the recoil.

And somebody is going to bring the argument that he's a replicant an his arms are stronger ...and bla bla bla. But not me.

I would say that, even if Deckard is a replicant, he's no stronger physically than an average human. Look at the way Leon, Pris, and Zhora manhandled him. If he were in their league physically, don't you think he could have avoided being assaulted so severely? The only thing that saved him in his encounters with the Nexus-6 replicants was luck.<BR><BR>And, if he is a replicant, he is an example of a shoddy product, in my opinion. BR796164, you get my pm?<BR><BR>the simple fact that there is no need for a shell casing or gunpowder means the projetile itself could be of a rather large bore. <BR>I own a Ruger .480 Super Redhawk, the thing is a cannon and difficult to be accurate with out past about 20 yards.<BR><BR>On the other hand, i have fired a Desert Eagle .50AE and it has about half the kick as the ruger, because of its built in recoil supression.<BR><BR>Taking into account the obvious implied technological advances in weaponry, i would say the PKD is a large bore weapon with a strong recoil supression system.

The first thing I thought was a high tech revovler, I don't think it would fire a big round though alot of PDW's that are coming out don't and they are extremely effective, I'd say it had some type of armor peircing round in it(making it caseless explains the lack of brass being ejected out when Deckard shoots his gun) .

As for the loud explosion I would say that .22's do tend to have a pretty big bark,especially if being fired from a revovler.

Or that the people who made the movie just wanted a high tech gun and used some type of pyrotechnic to make it look like it was shooting (like the machine gun on goblins glider in Spider-Man)
