Hi All
Just thought i would share this story with you. My wife saw an advert in our Local odeon where you can book a private showing of your favourite film. As it is my birthday coming up she thought she would do it for me and invite all our friends and family. The plan was for her to suggest going to the cinema and going out for a meal after, so when i get to the cinema i get the "surprise".
After quite a few phone calls and organising my wife then got an email from the Odeon saying that they have been refused the rights or permission to show it. Bearing in mind that it was going to be a least £1000 you would of thought it would of been worth it to them. As you can imagine i was very disappointed when i was told it was not going to happen. The Odeon has not been refused any other request for any other film, only Blade Runner. How sad.

That is fucked. Sorry m8.

I'd write a letter/email to whom ever is responsible for such decisions.

Thanks for all the Birthday greetings, another year closer to the 2019 great big get together. Has anybody decided on where would be the most practical place for this to be.

I still say we all meet here in LA. There's actually a Subway sub shop in the Bradbury Building now. We meet sometime in November, 2019, have a sandwich together, walk around the Bradbury Building, and then go out for drinks. One of the good things about the gentrification of Downtown is that we now have some legitimately great watering holes there now.

Nah. By the time 2019 rolls around, "Subway" will be full of mannequins.

Hi Guys
Just to follow up on the refusal to get Blade Runner on a special screening, unknown to us the lady that was trying to get the rights to show the film has been trying to get to the bottom of why it was such a big deal to allow the film to be seen.

She just sent an email stating " Warner Bros has lost the Distribution rights and permission has to come from the Producers. They were not interested.

What a sorry experience........ I have been trying to find somewhere in the UK where Blade Runner could be shown again. Sadly, once the 25th Anni "licensed" showing in cinemas recently, no-one seems interested in a repeat performance! What's wrong with these people?? Don't they understand what a following BR has? :(

Most frustrating.

Oh yeh.... Happy Birthday from across the big pond as well.

Was very interested to hear about the 2019 get together - is anyone invited :D

Agreed. That sucks. Hopefully they'll come to their senses and start letting the fine arts theaters show BR again, if anything to create hype for a possible sequel or re-do.
