Perhaps, but it could also be that Roy didn't want his clothes to bind him or "get in his way" while he and Deckard were running around the rooftops.

I figured that he impaled his hand to stop some sort of muscle contractions/spasms that might have begun to wrack parts of his body in the final hours of his life.

Thats a very good possibility. If you can't stop it, jam a nail in it. If anything it would probably cause a lot of damage to the guilty muscle/nerve/whatever.

It may be a bit difficult to completely understand why Roy begins to systematically strip at this point in the story. There are myriad possibilities: 1. A metaphor of some sort that doesn't necessarily contribute to the plot, but might be presented for the viewer to observe nevertheless 2. Batty was hot and exhausted or perhaps felt uncomfortable in wet clothing 3. Perhaps Batty was attempting to become reacquainted with a baser element of his personality. Note that all of the replicants (except for the dolt Leon) tend to work or spend leisure time in varying stages of undress.
