Does anyone believe in mercerism as a faith system? If so, why?

I must say though. I did write a parody of a gospel-type lyric based on Mercerism. I was going to post it on KippleZone, but I wanted to have it accompanied with a video, which didn't come about.

I think there's a lot of value in Mercerism, especially compared to some of the "offerings" the "real" world has. Perhaps Mercerism needs some "fleshing" out as a theology. That said, I can see a lot of parallels with other religions. It must have been Dick's fascination with religion that led him to draw several sources together.

Speaking as an atheist I would still quite happily join the Cult Of Baltar. Plenty of really fit gals with guns, and Baltar himself is such an adorable little weasel. And monotheism is liek a totally radical viewpoint in the BSG universe, dude.

I haven't read up on Mercerism to any great extent, but it sounds bloody awful, with all that uphill grind all the time(I also find DADoES a bit of grind too, so I've never read it properly)
