Is there any indication that Tyrell Corporation does nothing but perform research, design, and the manufacture of replicants? In those (lamentable) sequels by Jeter, we find out that Tyrell, probably through a subsidiary, manufactures prosthetic appliances (including Holden's cardiopulmonary unit). However, with that aside, do you think Tyrell is a "one-product" company or is the Corporation more of a conglomerate which has diversified its products and services through subsidiaries? If so, what else might they be responsible for manufacturing besides replicants? Weapons? Spinners? Tsing Tao? Surly nightclub owners? (Now there's a thought...suppose that Taffey Lewis is a replicant.)

In DADOES Rosen's (Tyrell's) entire business is solely the manufacture of Replicants.

Perhaps 26354 is right... After vanquishing his market competitors (Sudermann and Grozzi, Derain, etc...)Tyrell has monopoly on the Rep market (according to Jeter's "Edge of Human"). But it would be quite logical if such a big and speading company had many other subsidiaries, manufacturing other kind wares related to genetics, weapons, biotech stuff..

In the book its a one product company, but i get the idea that the Tyrell corp is a conglomerate, with many products in many different areas of life. I beleive the Zorg character from the fifth element was based off of Tyrell in BR, and the Zorg Corp controlled EVERYTHING in that universe.

There are those who might say that, despite being refined and a genius, Tyrell would still be a nut.

I think that the Tyrell Corp is a mianly bio mechanical baced company, and that they produse mainly replicants, and are constantly developing and refineing their products (Nexus 7, anyone?). I think that thier main product would be the replicant, as there are many types of replicant (pleasure, entertainment, combat, in the game, McCoy even mentions a 'Lolita' model...).

I figure that Tyrell's main products are replicants. Considering that Tyrell had a monopoly on the manufacturing of replicants, research, design, production, and sales would place significant demands on corporate resources such as time, labor, and materials. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the corporation was also involved in sideline fields such as prosthetics and so forth. As far as dealing in weapons and other unrelated products, I highly doubt it.

Question: What do you need to know in order to create Replicants? Answer: You need to know a great deal about human DNA, how the human body functions and how the human brain functions. It seems extremely likely to me with the knowledge I have of the world and of business in 2002, that Tyrell would have subsidiaries that provide all sorts of human bio fixes and enhancements. Such a company would be foolish not to diversify. Within the virtual reality of BR, I still see their primary business as Replicants. With increasing problems that cause the Earth to be a bad place to live, I see huge funding going to Tyrell to develop Reps to assist in Off-World colonisation. Just my take on it.

Wilkinis, okay Tyrell was a nut... But that doesn't mean we can compare him to Zorg! Look at those two - Tyrell is a well mannered, charismatic and wise... yes, wise man. And what about Zorg? A neurotic cretin with shortcutted brain and weird fashion style clothes. <IMG SRC="http://www.plauder-smilies.de/nut.gif" BORDER="0"> Anyways, making the children replicants as "Lolita pleasure models" is just plain perverse. The society of LA 2019 must be pretty sick.
