pretty cool - notice the chick in the cab that Deck is standing on top of looks very much (IMHO) like the one the camera gives a nice headshot of (in the movie) while Deck is moving through the street in the very same scene. he looks into the cab and she looks right at him with that veiled hat.

Indeed, it must be her.

I knew someone would eventually notice her 'cause she's been the topic of discussion on several occasions. The shot of her in the cab (in the movie) looking directly at the camera/Deckard, is wonderful.Haunting.Seems to stick in people's heads. A simple note = It appears in every version of BR except the "Workprint". Also... If someone were to ask me if her beret had a veil, I would answer off-the-top-of-my-head, YES. But, believe it or not... there is no veil.

Regarding the photo so generously offered by Deckard above... I'm sure that's the same woman. You can see the man's hat in the movie for a moment. The only difference is that there's a woman seated between them.

Here's where things start to get interesting for me:

This woman appears a couple times in the movie but sometimes she only seems to appear. Allow me to explain -
We actually see her previously to the shot in the cab. When Deck first starts chasing Zhora, he knocks a man into the side of a taxi. The driver honks the horn. The 2 Man-Nuns are located top-right. A leather-clad punk with a mohawk is on the left side of the frame. Behind the punk is a woman walking with a lighted umbrella. Walking behind her is this woman. Same coat,lapels,black beret with white flower decorations(sans veil),on the same side of her head, and carrying what looks to be a silver raincoat in front of her. What's really cool is she's looking directly at the camera/Deckard again. He actually swings around to face her (maybe catching a glimpse of her) at the end of the shot.

More weirdness.When Zhora runs atop the cars, a woman with similar face,hair,coat,lapels/scarf, and black beret (albeit on the other side of her head and different decoration), walks very noticably through the short scene. She even carries a silver raincoat in front of her. Maybe Sir Ridley is messin' with the audience's head, maybe it's coincidence, or maybe it's that ol' BR serendipity again. I don't know. I don't believe it's the same woman. But one thing's for sure... it's pure Blade Runner... and stranger things have happened.

I'm sure many of you have noticed some of these things before, but I felt it beared mentioning. All these moments make me think of something...
Anyone who has lost a loved-one, either in relationship or from death, knows what it feels like to be in a crowd of people and see your loved-one's face,hair,body,clothes everywhere you turn. Perhaps Deckard keeps thinking he sees his wife. Haunting. God, I love this film.

I am sure that she is also sitting to the left of Taffy at the bar. Different hat but same style. Around 47m 50s of the directors cut.

You're speculating about details in the film to amazing heights, Gene Ettix and you seem to have it perfectly analyzed and memorized frame-by-frame. YOU NEXUS, HUH? Good thing we have you around, chap!

Thanks so much for the kind words, BR796164. Always good to hear your thoughts, as well. I'll admit, I'm a dreamer & a romantic. And I'm always fascinated by science. And yes, sometimes I anaylize to the point of obsession. Sometimes maybe to my own disadvantage. I see a look of concern come over my wife's face sometimes (when she sees "Future Noir" come off the shelf, for example), and I start trudging my way through the deep BR omniverse.

As many times as I've watched BR over the years, it's hard for me to believe I don't actually have it memorized frame-by-frame. That's the beauty of it. I've learned that each time a person sees a film, they're not the same person they were before. Plus, our moods change.
The truth of the matter is, I'm sure I don't watch BR as often as people would think. I'm a patient person and I don't like ruining the experience for myself, so I wait for the perfect opportunity and then fully enjoy it. Too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. (I've scoured my Blu-ray set pretty thoroughly, but I have, as yet, to listen to any of the commentaries... and I'm lookin' forward to it!)

As far as speculating about details... I encourage all people who frequent these boards to go for it and reach for the stars. BR is the best film for this. It seems to change and grow with me, but as I get older, BR stays fresh.


ridleyville - If I may, I'd like to say I honestly don't think the woman on Taffey's left is the same actor/extra from the cab scene. But, you have every chance of being correct as I do, really.
Take a look at the taxi-lady again. Very round-shaped face. The woman @ Taffey's has a thin face & nose. Similar-looking none-the-less.Of course, we only see her profile. But, I really think this is a different person who also is seen on occasion. She may even be one of the ballerina mannequins at JF's. Alas... I have no proof, but I never forget a face, names are a different story.
I guess, this goes back to what I said in my last post about the illusion of similar-looking actors/extras and what the significance may (or may not) be. Perhaps that's the whole point. The ambiguity. Like so many things in Blade Runner...
