Origin of Tyrell Corporation?

I searched as hard as I could but couldn't find a thread or post on this: Has the "Mr. R.I.N.G." episode of that old 70's tv show Night Stalker ever been credited with being an inspiration for naming the Tyrell Corporation in BR?

The episode details can be found here

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Stargate/4991/kolchak/klchk02.htm#ep12

and another reference is found in the "Origin" section of the Wikipedia page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replicant

but I was curious if Fancher or anyone else had formally acknowledged the influence. Any forum experts have some insight here? Thanks in advance...

Andy

I was goofing off at work ... er, I mean I was doing a wikipedia search on various BR subjects when I came across the reference to Night Stalker on the page about Replicants. Even though the TV show only ran for one season I really liked it as a kid. Now days I can't think of Darren McGavin without thinking of the movie A Christmas Story, LOL.

Yes nice find.....this subject was discussed on the IMDB BR board a couple of weeks ago, and after a very long thread someone said we should email Hampton and ask him if that epidsode had any influence on his decision to change Rosen to Tyrell corp. :)

Thanks for the info, jimmymack8. Are you referring to the message boards at Internet Movie Data Base (www.imdb.com)? I am not a member there and thus couldn't search for that thread. If you hear anything there on this subject feel free to let us know. Thanks again...

Andy

Here's the thread
