The Broadway District wants to get ready for its closeup...

The area along Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles from 2nd St. to 4th St. has a special place in our hearts, because it was one of the shooting locations for Blade Runner. It looks like the City of Los Angeles and a whole bunch of people who own property in the former movie theatre district of Downtown LA are actually getting together to revitalize the slightly tattered and faded area.

The effort, entitled "Bringing Back Broadway" includes the revival of streetcars for transit in the area, linking Broadway with the LA Live/Convention Center complex and other locations to be determined. Apparently the current owners of the Bradbury Building and the Million Dollar Theatre are among the people involved in this effort.

Yes, I really live in Los Angeles. Srsly. And yeah, life really does imitate art here. Especially now we've got those video billboards. No spinners yet. But I suppose that's next.
