(Although I like the international better as a whole regardless of it's so called flaws),I would suggest the final cut first because it lets you think more for yourself without the narrative and the dreamy like ending. The international could be like the bonus for the first timer .The final cut though can put the replicant theory to work ,so I my self, might would rather watch the inter. and then let the replic. dream idea be incerted later when I watch the final cut . You pose a good question .

One version = Final Cut

Hi there

I finally made my wife sit down and watch the movie with me.
And i tell you. It was not easy. (she don't like SF movies, poor thing ;)
I choosed to play "The Final Cut" version in Blue-Ray. She didn't say anything while the movie was playing. When it was over only one word come out of her mouth. WOW!!

So i'll guess that's the one show ;)

I think Kipple nailed it:
"The Final Cut" PLUS Charles De Lauzirika's wonderful "6th version" 8)

@ ElTorro -
Sounds like your wife liked it. Get her to watch the Deleted Scenes version next. Only 45 minutes long and well worth the time.

FC, obviously, as it's technically superior and may have highest appeal for new viewers. If they become interested in the movie, they will eventually get to other versions.

But then I must say FC is not 100 percent my most favourite version as I don't quite like the new color palette and that they removed some minor parts. Every second of BR material is dear to me.

If I had my favourite version, it would be something between WP, DC and FC.

There should be yet another realese for the hardcore fans with all sceens and stuff. And the choice to edit the film the way you liked the best. (ehum.... yeah right?)
Just drag and drop sceens and sounds together for the ultimate personal view.

Naaaaa.... it would never work ;) but it's a sweeet thought.

To quote an old Apple ad...rip, mix, burn.

If you have the 5 disc set you have the whole enchilada. Final Cut Express on Mac or Vegas on PC should be all you need to build yourself your very own fan edit.

The raw materials are there. If you have a badass enough computer and enough online storage (your internal HD) or near-line storage (external drives) you can do it.

Have at it.
Yes, I really live in Los Angeles. Srsly. And yeah, life really does imitate art here. Especially now we've got those video billboards. No spinners yet. But I suppose that's next.

quite simple:i think for "first timers"the 1982 international theatrical version(criterion edition),with narration, happy ending and all the stuff can be fine, keep out from the"1986 broadcast"edition(rare.. but),2007,final cut really rules(if you have the 5 disc briefcase so you will enjoy it),and after that is fine watch the"workprint",its easy to download if you have some e-mule or other,(if you dont have the collector s box of course).Watch all the versions is very"addictive"if you are a hardcore fan,its good.Fan editions will be more interesting now, but, watch the first version and after that the other versions.

ps:i heard a hoax about the full"love scene"was watched years before on a late night sci-fi channel broadcast and a i couldnt believe about that urban legend

Say what now? The longer, more intense version seen on the DVD set? That's made up.
